Daxton's POV:

I stretch myself out on my bed, noticing that Adisyn currently occupies the spot beside me on the bed.

Her eyes are still closed as she continues to dream, I know she must have fallen asleep hours before I did, but I still wanted her to get some rest.

Our mate pull was getting stronger, my wolf was constantly screaming at me to mate her, but I refused to do that until I knew for sure that she was ready.

Adisyn was a flight risk, I knew that from the minute I met her. Austyn's stories of his little sister only seemed to confirm my suspicions.

Boys had always been after Adisyn, but she would turn them all down just as fast.

She was reserved, she didn't want to have meaningless flings with random guys. If she wanted to, she easily could have by now.

I mean look at her, she is the epitome of beautiful, plus she has beta blood running through her veins, not that she is aware of that.

Austyn and Adisyn's father was Beta of this pack when my father was in charge. Austyn had to step up from a young age and train to take his position of Beta in the pack. As he was only four years old when his father left.

They had the third in command step up, but Austyn took his place as Beta at only 16 years old. He is still, to this day, the youngest Beta to ever serve the pack.

Ah, our pack, The Ravenfalls Pack. We have always been the strongest pack in all of North America. Hell, even the world maybe.

Our Alphas have always been known for their overwhelming strength and natural leadership skills.

Our Lunas were always known for their kindness and nurturing natures. I could tell that Adisyn possessed both of these qualities.

I knew it from the minute I saw her with my sister. My sister is typically a very shy girl, who keeps to herself and only opens up when I'm around.

But she adores Adisyn, I could see it in the way her eyes sparkled when she entered in to the room in Adisyn's arms.

She is going to be a great Luna to our pack, maybe we will be the next power couple like Sarah and Ken.

My great grandparents were the most infamous power couple known. To this day everyone still compares all of the alphas and lunas to them.

I feel Adisyn stir beside me, her facial expression extremely confused all of the sudden.

I frown at the expression that crosses her face, instantly wondering what could be troubling my sleep addled girl.

I see her pout, sub consciously reaching her fingertips out towards me. Is that what she wants? Does she really want me?

She huffs, reaching her arms forwards until she grazes my arm with her finger tips. She then smiles, reaching out further to me.

I return her smile, my heart warming as I figure out she did want me, she does want me. She won't regret having me as her mate, she won't regret me around at all.

"C'mere then little one." I say, laughing as a smile lights up her face when she hears my voice.

I reach out to her in return, wrapping her up in my arms and cradling her gently into my chest.

It seems she is the only thing that can make me smile these days, and she does it so easily.

I catch her smile before she buries her face in my chest, wrapping her arms tightly around my waist.

I kiss the back of her head, running my fingers gently through her auburn hair.

"Dax?" She mumbles, turning her head to look at me.

"Yeah?" I ask quietly, peering down at her.

"You feeling any better?" She asks, causing me to smile, nodding.

"I can't be sad when you're around." I inform, causing her to giggle.

"Good, you don't need to be sad. I don't like it." She admits, tracing shapes on my arms with her finger tips.

I smile, pulling her into my chest as I sit up. "You're so cute." I gush, causing her to smile at me, laying her head on my shoulder.

"I had fun with your sister yesterday, she is so sweet." She says, causing guilt to rush through me like a waterfall. "I am so sorry about leaving you alone with her." I frown, running my fingers through her hair. "Don't be, I think she needed some girl time anyways." She replies, peering up at me.

"Additionally, you needed some time. I understand that." She smiles sadly, leaning up to kiss my cheek. I return her solemn look, pulling her closer to me.

"If you don't mind me asking, what is wrong with your mother?" She questions, returning her gaze up to my face. "S-she." I stutter, slipping my eyes closed. I feel Adisyn sit up, causing my wolf to sulk. My wolf, Adrian, never wanted Adisyn out of arms reach. He constantly feared for her safety after she had left the both of us to go get abused by her mother.

'Get her back here.' He hissed, his protective side in full swing. I feel Adisyn grab my hand. I open my eyes to see her sitting in front of me cross legged. "You don't have to tell me." She says, guilt flooding her voice as she takes in my stirred up state.

"S-she has cancer, she has for years now. But, it spread to her heart, she will be dead with in the month." I whisper, wiping at my eyes. 'Get it together, we are not weak, not in front of our mate.' Adrian hisses fiercely.

"I am so sorry." She whispers, her thumb stroking the back of my hand affectionately. "Don't be, I'm fine." I reply, clearing my throat and sitting up straighter. 'Good, that's a good boy.' Adrian praises.

'I refuse to scare her away.' I reply to him. 'Now, why would I scare away our little one?' He asks dryly. 'I don't know, but I refuse to lose her.' I spit. 'You won't lose her, we will protect our Luna with all we have. Our luna, my Luna.' He purrs. I laugh dryly, instantly returning my attention to Adisyn.

I reach forward, grabbing a lock of her long, auburn, hair before twirling it in my fingers. Her eyes light up at the small act of affection, and it only ends up making me sad. She wasn't this used to poeple paying attention to her, it broke my heart because, dammit she deserved it.

'So show her that.' Adrian commands. "Hey, do you still want to spend an entire day napping?" I chuckle, causing her to nod. "Of course, it is my dream." She replies, a smile etched on to her features.

"Alright, well, night." I laugh, slumping back on to my bed and slipping my eyes closed. 'You fool, get her back to me, get her back to me, now.' He replies anxiously. My wolf starts to stir inside me, causing me to groan, opening my eyes.

I open my eyes to see Adisyn's unintentional pout as her gaze is fixed on me, damn she is so cute. I smile, shooting her my best puppy dog look as I open my arms for her. She huffs, turning her head away from me dramatically. 'You made her upset, apologize to her, we can't lose her.' Adrian rushes anxiously.

"I'm sorry." I pout, getting up and wrapping my arms around her from behind. I lay my head on her shoulder, inhaling her sweet scent. My finely tuned senses make it easy to pick up her intoxicating scent. She smells like a mixture of coconut and vanilla. It makes me melt, wanting to hold her closer to me forever.

"Come cuddle with me, please?" I beg, causing her to nod, leaning her head back on my shoulder. 'God, I love her so much.' Adrian moans, trying to take control of me. I fight him though, shaking my head, he is vicious, I have no idea what he could do to Adisyn.

I pick her up effortlessly, spinning her around playfully before setting her down on the bed. She giggles at my antics, leaning her head back.

I crawl into the bed beside her, smiling. I lay behind her, wrapping an arm around her and claiming my rightful spot as the big spoon. "Get some rest." I coax, causing her to nod. I decide that maybe I too should get some rest, I didn't get much of it last night.

I slip my eyelids shut, drifting into a well needed sleep.
