I whimper, burrying my face in my pillow. I know Daxton is warm, but right now I am burning up.
I grab my wrist, pressing it to my forehead before hissing.
My forehead was positively burning up. "Shit." I murmur, sitting up in Daxton's bed.
"Ads?" I hear Daxton's morning voice chime. "What's up?" He asks, turning to look at me.
"I'm okay." I assure, nodding as I lay my head in my hands. "You're driving my wolf crazy Ads, something must be wrong." He sighs, sitting up and looking at me.
He takes his hand, gently cupping my cheek. "You're burning up!" He frowns, feeling my forehead afterwards.
"Lay down, alright?" He says, coaxing me back down onto his bed. "But-" "No buts." He says firmly, smoothing my hair out of my face.
"You have a meeting, remember? You're leaving for a week Dax." I remind, looking at him.
I see his face freeze over before panic floods it. "Shit." He mutters, running his fingers frustratedly through his hair.
"I'll be fine." I say, causing him to shake his head. "You need me." He sighs, barely audible.
"You need me and I can't even be here." He groans, angry with himself. "Hey, look at me." I say, grabbing his hand.
"I'm fine." I assure, causing him to sigh. "I'm sorry Ads." He whispers, sitting on the edge of the bed. He leans in, going to give me a light kiss.
I shake my head, covering my mouth with my hands. I hear him whine, a pout masking his face.
"What?" He whines, looking at me obliviously.
"I refuse to get you sick." I insist, causing him to laugh.
"What?" I ask, rolling my eyes at his amused expression.
"Werewolves don't get sick Ads." He reminds, leaning in and giving me a quick peck.
"I should get going." He sighs, looking at me carefully.
"I'm sure I could cancel..." He trails off as he continues to look at me.
"My mate comes first, I can't leave you." He says, reaching for his cell phone. I swat his hand, causing him to look at me in pure shock.
"You won't cancel this because of a fever." I say firmly.
"Ads I can't leave you alone when you're sick." He says, causing me to smile. "What?" He asks, his eyes worried.
I pull out my phone, dialing the only person I can think of who could convince Daxton to leave, Austyn.
"Hey Adi, everything okay?" Austyn asks, answering on the first ring.
"Actually, no. I think I'm coming down with something." I whisper, closing me eyes.
"What?" He asks. His voice in panic. "I have a really bad fever." I sigh.
"Let me guess little one, you want me to make Daxton leave town for his meeting, right?" He asks, causing me to laugh.
"I don't want to make him miss his meetings." I sigh, causing him to laugh."I'll keep an eye on you little one. I'll be up there in a second." Austyn assures.
"Thanks Aus, see you in a second." I smile, turning to look at Daxton as I hang up my phone.
"See, ha. I told you I'd find a way." I say, causing him to look at me confused. "What'd you do?" He asks, causing me to smile.
A knock on the door causes me to smirk as Daxton turns, looking out towards the hallway.
