"Let me get this straight." I sigh, rubbing my temples with my index fingers.
"You're all werewolves?" I ask, my voice displaying my shock st the new found information.
"Yeah." Dax replies quietly, as if scared to see how I will reply. "That's so cool!" I gush, smiling.
"I know its a lot to take in at once but I promise we won't hurt you Adisyn." He rushes.
"Wait what?" He asks, absorbing my answer finally. "I'm not afraid of you, honestly. I've always been into the supernatural." I shrug.
This response causes Dax to smile for a second before something else surfaces in his head.
"Well, if you're into the supernatural, do you know how the rankings in a pack work?" He asks, causing me to nod.
"Yeah, the one in charge is the Alpha, then Beta, the Sentine, the Elders and the assassin." I reply quickly.
"Impressive." Austyn says, looking at me in awe.
"Yes, but she forgot the most important ranking in our pack." Dax says, eyeing me cautiously.
"Did I?" I say, thinking over my answer again. "Yes, do you know what a Luna is?" He asks quietly.
"Oh, of course I do." I say, laughing at my stupidity. "The Luna is the mate of the Alpha. She helps him take care of the pack and is kind of the pack mother if you will."
"Now, I'm the alpha, Austyn there is my beta." Dax says motioning, to the blond who is still oddly surprised by my knowledge of werewolves.
"Is Hemingway the Luna?" I ask, looking at how close she had gotten to Dax since he arrived here.
"No, sweetheart of course not. I'm the pack healer." She laughs. For some odd reason her answer soothes me, though I can't seem to understand why I wouldn't want Dax to be with Hemingway.
"Who is the Luna then? Doesn't she usually stay by the side of the alpha?" I pose.
"Well, sweetheart, that would be you." Dax says. I feel my heart begin to hammer in my chest.
"What?" I spit, completely taken back. "Can I have a minute alone with Adisyn please?" Dax asks, causing both Austyn and Hemingway to nod before leaving the infirmary.
"I don't want to scare you away, alright? That is the last thing I would want to do." He assures me.
I nod, looking at him cautiously. "May I?" He asks, motioning to the side of the bed. I nod, scooting myself to the right a bit so that he may sit on the left edge of my bed.
I let out a whimper, clutching my shoulder where the crescent bite mark from last night remains.
"I'm sorry." He sighs, eyeing my shoulder. His eyes look sad, like this physically hurts him.
"No, I'm okay Dax, I'm fine." I assure, putting my hand on his shoulder. I see him physically relax at my touch.
"Mates, soulmates. When werewolves meet their soulmate they know. They can tell by the glow in their eyes, by their scent, everything about them is just perfect." He tries to explain.
"Y-you think I'm perfect?" I ask quietly, a blush creeping up onto my pale cheeks.
"Of course I do." He smiles. "But, would you accept being my mate?" He asks quietly.
I peer over and see that he looks terrified. Does he think I am going to reject him?
"I-I'm not known to be the best with relationships." I sigh out quietly, thinking of my life at home.
"I would never rush you to be, if you're not used to this I understand, it is a whole lot to take in." He sighs quietly.
"But I can't lose you, seeing you in this much pain is slowly killing me." He says, cupping my left cheek in his hand.
His touch was feverish, heat radiated off of him in waves. Though I couldn't help but close my eyes and lean into his touch. His touch seemed to temporarily take the pain away from my wolf encounter last night.
"I'm going to get Hemingway to come take care of you, okay?" He asks, causing me to nod.
He takes his hand away from my cheek and I can't help but let out a small cry as all the pain rushes back into my body.
He looks at me completely shocked. "Everything okay?" He asks, causing me to nod.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." I whisper. Though my head has started to pound again. "You're shaking!" He exclaims, slipping off his leather jacket and slipping is around my much smaller frame.
"I'm going to get Hemingway." He notes, rushing out the door.
Hemingway is in the room with in seconds, reaching me quickly. "Everything will be okay Adisyn, it will be okay." She whispers, but her eyes are screaming something else.
"You got bit right?" She asks, causing me to nod. "Wolf poison, must have been a stray." She rushes.
She puts her wrist to my head and pulls away, hissing. "Fever, shit." She cusses. "Honey, this is going to hurt okay?" She says, looking at me before pulling out a syringe.
"No." I whimper. "Adisyn, honey you could die." She sighs.
"No needles." I whisper, beginning to shake even more. "It'll be fine, you just have to stay down." She whispers.
She takes Dax's leather jacket off of me carefully, pinning my arm down to the bed.
She then pulls out a large needle, the tip alone measuring to about the size of my index finger.
"No!" I scream, squirming out of Hemingway's grasp. "Adisyn!" She says, looking at me shocked.
"Don't touch me with that!" I scream, my eyes begin to water. I have always had an irrational fear of needles.
When I was younger my uncle was a known druggy. My parents were best friends with him and left me there for a weekend. He tied me down and injected a clear liquid, a lot like this one into the crease in my arm.
Ever since, I haven't let anyone come with in ten feet of me if they are even holding a needle.
The door is thrown open as Dax enters the room. "Stop! You're driving my wolf crazy!" Dax hisses.
He then looks up at the situation and catches my eye. "Adisyn." He whispers, his voice sounding broken.
"She needs this needle, she has wolf poisoning." Hemingway defends. "No, don't please don't." I whimper, wiping at me eyes.
"Hey, don't cry." He sighs, walking over to me brusquely. He sits himself back in his spot in the left edge of my bed.
"Hemingway wouldn't do anything to hurt you, okay?" He asks, causing me to nod. "Now, come here, please. I can't stand to see you cry." He says, opening his arms for me. I nod, sniffling as I shift myself into his grasp.
"I promise it will be okay. With out this needle, you could end up very sick." He whispers to me, running his fingers through my dark brown hair.
"Can you do this? Please Adisyn, for me?" He pleads. "Will you be here?" I whimper quietly.
"Y-yeah, of course." He promises. "Okay." I whimper in response, burying my face into his neck.
"I've got you." He replies quietly, laying his lips to my head.
I feel Hemingway grab my arm, injecting the needle into my vein. I cringe, letting out a muffled sob into Daxton's gray hoodie.
"Shh, its okay. It's okay Adisyn, get some sleep." He coaxes. "It'll be okay."
