After Milan had gotten the news that her grandmother more like her mother figure had passed away, Kayla gave her the money to fly back to Milan home town. Milan refused the money but ended up caving in knowing how her high school best friend if Kayla wants to do something she will and no one can talk her out of it.
Milan didn't know how long she was going to stay so she packed as many clothes. She would be staying with her aunt to help out her aunt clear out Milan's grandmother, her aunt's sister. Milan thought to herself a lot of nights about what she did wrong and what she could've done to be there for her grandmother like she was there for Milan.
But little does Milan know that death always does its part. Theirs no way in stopping it but accepting it.
Milan felt angry, not just with death but because of herself. Everything she does and everyone she's always around makes her feel like she could've done better in life.
Every time she looks at Sahanii she gets reminded of how she made her feel like disappearing making Sahanii do all the hard work on her own but in reality, they both made a creation.
Kaomi, every time Milan held Kaomi while she was asleep she gets reminded that she wasn't there helping her mother while pregnant with her. Sahanii had put her life at risk because Milan had made a promise that she would be there without that promise kaomi wouldn't have existed.
Milan was so gentle with holding her she never want to be like her own "mother". Milan made a promise to kaomi that she would try to be the best mother.
Milan maybe couldn't keep her promise for Sahanii but she will keep hers for her daughter.
Milan was angry that how attached she was to her grandmother like she was her mother. Milan couldn't understand why she was so attached to her grandmother in a way as if she was a mother to her.
Milan wanted a mother that she could call for help when trying to be a mother to her child. Growing up in a household with a father that wasn't present, a mother who quite literally carried hatred in her hurt for her child.
Milan's childhood was hard growing up in and nothing like the rest, she never dared to open the door to that memory again.
Milan just didn't know that her actions will reflect on her and the people around her if she didn't get the proper help.
