"That is exactly what I meant, boy." -Arthur nodded as he stopped his horse. "So, you coming?" -he added.
"Of course I am!" -John turned his horse around to follow Arthur.
With a bit of luck, they caught a lead on where she could be. That is, they beat up an O'Driscoll in Valentine and forced him to tell the location. Which was Grizzlies West, near Barrow Lagoon, up in the mountains.
They hurried back to camp to tell this information to everyone and they all joined Arthur and John, except for the women and Jack.
On their way to the location, John felt more and more worried about her.
"What if they...killed her...?" -John asked Arthur with a worried look in his eyes.
"No, don't even think about such a thing." -he shook his head.
"Hope she's alive!" -Javier yelled from behind them.
As they came near the location, they hid behind the trees and silently got off their horses. After taking a good look at the camp, they were about to disrupt them when they saw Colm bringing the unconscious Charlotte into his house in his arms.
John was ready to put a bullet in Colm's head but Arthur lowered John's gun.
"I know you want to kill that man, we all do, but wait until we're closer." -he whispered as he let go of John's gun. John scoffed but he agreed to wait a little more.
After a few minutes, they came down to them and started a gang fight. The gang members weren't hurt, however, the same couldn't be said for the O'Driscoll boys, they're pretty much dead.
The gang stopped in front of Colm's house.
"Give us back the girl, now!" -Dutch yelled in a commanding voice.
"The girl is a goner, not much you can do about that." -Colm explained as he burst the door open.
"What...what did you do to her?!" -John yelled in disbelief as he pointed his gun at Colm.
"You can defeat all of my men even from afar, but you can't defeat me when I'm right in front of you? You're better off running. Don't even bother about this meaningless woman. Besides, we were having fun just now." -he grinned maliciously.
"Stop with your damn nonsense and bring the woman out!" -Arthur yelled.
"That's enough, I'm killing this son of a bitch!" -John yelled angrily from behind Arthur as he reached for his revolver.
Suddenly Charlotte shows up behind Colm and hits him on the back of his head with a pan. After Colm collapses onto the ground, Charlotte drops the pan and looks at John.
"John! ...and everyone! Boy, am I glad to see you all!" -she said as she stepped over Colm's unconscious body.
John's eyes lit up when he saw Charlotte again. Javier was surprised she was even alive.
As Dutch wanted to take a few steps towards her, Charles nudged him, then pointed in the light's direction.
"Dutch, those are Colm's men." -Charles whispered. Dutch rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"Okay boys, get ready for a round two." -he instructed as he unholstered his revolver.
Seconds later the O'Driscolls reached the gang and they got caught in a heated gunfight. Bullets flew left and right as Charlotte was making her escape, trying to reach a tree to hide behind, when all of a sudden she tripped on a branch and fell into the snow.
She grunted as she tried to stand up.
"Charlotte! Is everything okay?!" -John jelled from a little further away from behind a tree. She replied that she was fine. In the meantime, John was running over to help her. John shouted to Javier to cover for him while he made his way to Charlotte.
All of a sudden a wolf rushed in front of Charlotte to protect her from the incoming bullets.
"Moonlight?!" -she shouted as she looked up to her wolf. After the last shot, the world fell silent as the wolf's body fell into the snow like a single rose petal falling from the head of the rose. She crawled to her wolf in a hurry.
"You...can't leave me here!" -she said with her voice shaking. Her hearing the wolf's whimpering made her feel even more sorrowful. Moonlight licked her owner's hand once again before it closed its eyes forever.
Charlotte just sat there in silence with tears running down her cheeks all while holding onto her wolf.
A second later John arrived at her.
