It was a calm night in Westchester so Peter decided to surprise his best friend Y/N. The two of them headed outside onto the grass of the X-Mansion. "I know you don't like blindfolds but I am going to have to put one on you," Peter established.

"Can't we try something else? Blindfolds aren't very comfortable, especially for me. They are very restraining you know," Y/n acknowledged glaring into Peter's eyes. Peter knew about Y/n's autism sensory issues but he usually didn't know how to accommodate around them.

"Ok let's think of something else. How about I'll put my hand in front of your eyes to keep them closed and when we get there I will move my hand? Will that work?" Peter wondered. "Can you hold my hand?" Y/n asked. Peter grabbed Y/n's hand and squeezed it tight. "Now remember no peaking," Peter reminded as he covered Y/n's eyes but still gave a little distance.

They began walking up a hill together but a rock made Y/n trip luckily Peter was quick on his feet and prevented them from falling. "Are you ok?" Peter inquired. "I'm-Peter I am scared where are you taking me?" Y/n questioned. "It's not that far we will get there soon," Peter stated. "Can I look now?" Y/n inquired. "Not yet," Peter declared.

"Ugh, this is taking forever!" Y/n cried out as they pulled Peter's hand away from their face. "I want to know where are you taking me?" Y/n inquired once more. "It will only take just another minute. Please just listen to me," Peter asked.

"It's hard for me Peter my brain doesn't like surprises. My brain isn't normal. I am not normal. I know you can't seem to get that though. All you care about is yourself or the girls you meet," Y/n vented. Y/n turned around, sat down, and planted themselves on the hill. Peter's eyes widen with shock and turned to sit down next to Y/n.

"I know you don't like tags on your clothes, loud noises, the difficulty of understanding how to socialize. I know you cling to people you care about and you have this weird ability to remember where people were at certain moments, and that's not even all. Would you look at me Y/n?" Peter petitioned.

Y/n peered into his eyes curiously. They noticed the gentle stream of tears flowing down his face. "Oh, Peter don't cry," Y/n murmured. "I care about you immensely Y/n and I am sorry I don't understand everything about you. It's just you're unique and there are so many aspects to you I don't understand but I do know I want to learn and try my best. I guess some people don't just like surprises or anticipation so I will let you keep your eyes open," Peter revealed.

"Come on you wanna run up the hill together?" Peter questioned outstretching his hand to Y/n. "You know I am going to fall again if I run right?" Y/n stated. "You already know I am going to catch you," Peter smirked. "Yeah I guess you're right," Y/n uttered. Peter picked them up and began running with them up the hill slow enough so that Y/n would win though. When they reached the top Y/n was awestruck.

"Peter! A picnic? I- and you got my favorite foods!" Y/n yelped. "That's not all I got these for you," Peter stated as he placed noise-canceling headphones around Y/n's ears. "What are these for?" Y/n wondered. Peter pointed to the sky and Y/n looked in the direction he was pointing.

Fireworks began to go off and Y/n began to touch and feel the headphones. "I can't hear!" Y/n cheered gleefully knowing know they could enjoy the fireworks, and not have to worry which caused Peter to begin to smile. Y/n glanced at the fireworks in disbelief as they began to eat some of the food left out. "I can't believe this! This is awesome!" Y/n smiled. Colors of red, blue, white, yellow, and green lit up the sky. Peter glanced over and saw the smile on Y/n's face and couldn't help but grin himself.

The fireworks ended in a splash of all the colors that painted the sky. "Peter!" Y/n began to cry a little. "Thank you no one has done something like this for me!" Y/n admitted. "Well I did say you were special and special people deserve special things," Peter quipped with a smirk. "How did you do this?" Y/n wondered. "Hey Y/n!" Scott yelped from the bottom of the hill. "You guys were in on this?" Y/n wondered. "Well yeah did you seriously think Peter could pull off doing fireworks by himself?" Jubilee questioned as she set of a couple sparks in her hands. "Not to mention make decent food?" Jean added.

"I can make decent food!" Peter cried out. "Yeah Ramen noodles," Ororo chirped. "For your information ramen noodles are pretty tasty," Peter remarked. "He's right. For once," Scott confessed. "Hey what kind of back handed!- you know what I'll take it," Peter uttered. Everyone began to laugh out loud. "Thank you guys for everything," Y/n stated. "No problem," Jean smiled. "Do you guys wanna join there is still some food left?" Y/n inquired. "Peter didn't eat it all?" Scott questioned. "Haha funny," Peter sarcastically quipped. "We would love to join!" Jubilee said as they all walked up the top of the hill and sat down for a picnic under the evening sky.
