The following evening, after the sunset's pink gradient has split that horizon, Jisung stares down the shelf containing the mythical moonstone.

He had read a couple lines from the book Minho recommended (also untitled), conveniently about the behaviors of the moonstone, but couldn't keep focus.

Call him crazy, but he swears that the moonstone is flickering. And has been for the past half-hour.

Jisung can't help but be drawn to the flickering moonstone—like a moth to a flame—as if it is calling out to him. He leans in closer to examine it, on his tip-toes and all, but as he does so, the flickering intensifies and the stone begins to emit a soft, pulsing light.

Jisung steps back, processing the eerie, unearthly glow that bounces off the sea-rock's surface. It's almost as blaring white as the full moon that basks in the evening's darkness.

As he reaches out to touch it, a sudden wave of dizziness overtakes him.

His head swims with a deluge of conflicting emotions and he steps back, a gasp caught in his throat. Like a tempestuous whirlwind, Jisung's thoughts spiral out of control—beyond his pace. The moonstone's aura seemed to invade his mind, stirring up images with no meaning, detailing a journey with no ending.

The lagoon. A picture of the lagoon conjures up in his mind, compelling him there, as if he's needed there.

Jisung's breathing grows shallow and rapid as he clutches his chest, trying to fight off the insidious effects of the stone's power. Why would it be leading him to the lagoon? Is it truly trying to transform him into something otherworldly?

Images flicker through his mind in incremental seconds. The lagoon. Purple. So much purple. Calm waves. The stone. The stone in Jisung's hand.

The moonstone's light intensifies, casting strange shadows around the room—ones that appear abnormally humanoid. Surrounding him, calling his name. "Jisung~," they chant, synchronized.
