Reggie and I both owled our parents immediately after we were done celebrating on our own. We wanted to make sure that this would work out in our favor. After visiting the owlery we ran into the marauders on the way back.

"Why are you two love birds so happy?" James questioned. I shared a look with Reg and then I stared directly into Sirius' eyes.

"We're engaged," I told them. I carefully observed Sirius to see his reaction. Several emotions passed over his face in mere seconds. Confusion, happiness... sadness?

"Congratulations!" James cheered and barreled forward to wrap us in a sloppy hug. In reality it more resembled him tackling us, but we all remained standing.

"I'm happy for you," Sirius said after James finally relinquished us. I could see the conflict in his eyes and I frowned. Sirius stepped towards us and stopped when he was right in front of us.

"You deserve happiness, Reg," he whispered before pulling him into a hug. Reggie was stiff for a moment, but then held onto Sirius like he was a lifeline. Like if he let go, Reggie would float away and be lost. I looked around us and was glad to see that the lot of us were alone. Sirius was shunned from the Black family... We didn't need word about this getting back to their parents.

When Sirius pulled back I could see his red eyes briefly before he pulled me into his arms.

"You take care of him," he whispered to me. I hugged Sirius back with everything I had in me.

"I'll do my best," I responded.
