Love From Another Universe

a/n: hey y'all! one more chapter of background knowledge and then we will get into the current time! the love interest will be coming i handy within the next chapter or two!! enjoy <3 ⚠️ warning for death. ⚠️

I arrive at the top of the tower and take off my mask while entering. Everyone is in their suits and I see people Ive never seen, or at least barely have seen. They look at me and Natasha nods me over. I walk over and take my usual seat at the abnormally long board room table.

I see a women I've never met. I lean forward and ask Wanda who this is. She says her name is Captain Marvel and she's a friend of Fury's. Fury? Is he here? I have a fan giel moment.

I lean back in my chair as I listen. She's describing a new villain who wants to get rid of the universe. What? The whole universe? She puts up a picture of him on the screen in the middle of the table. Damn this guy is ugly, he looks like a deformed raisin.

"Thanos has already killed other worlds, communities, populations, you name it. Earth is on his bucket list. We don't know when he is coming or where specifically but we know he's coming so we need to prepare." Captain Marvel says looking around at the crowded room.

I look around the table as well to try and read every bodies expressions. None of their faces changed from their serious listening faces. Am I the only one thinking this is crazy? She continues to explain how he wants something called the Infinity Stones which apparently Vision posses one of them. I look at him and he points to the glowing stone in his head. I look back at the hologram.

Another person I've briefly talked to stand up, T'Challa, aka Black Panther. He gets up and the hologram in the middle changes. "I have agreed to use Wakanda as our battle ground for part of it. With my warriors, the Avengers, and the technology we offer, it should be enough to distract them while we safely remove the stone from Vision." He motions his hand towards him, "We want to be able to still have him be who he is but also need to hide the stone away so that Thanos is unable to get it."

After some more planning, they call the meeting over. I look around as the crowd leaves, thinking about how the hell is this going to work. What am I talking about, they have dealt with threats like this before. They are the Avengers, I am an Avenger. I shouldn't change that, as long as I don't mess it up. Shut up you won't.

Little did I know this would change everything.

Couple weeks later, while I was at the tower, we got the call. Apparently, Tony and Strange had an interaction with some of them. Time to go to Wakanda. Steve, Natasha, Sam, and a few more of us get on the jet.

I was starting to get nervous, tapping my feet and fiddling with anything and everything, clothes fingers etc. Bucky scoots over closer to me and hugs me with his good arm. I look up at him. "Things will be okay, we are going to kick this mother fuckers ass." I giggle while looking at Steve who gives him the side eye. "Thank you, Bucky." I smile at him, and lay my head on his shoulder. They really are like my second family, and I need to protect them at all costs.

I feel asleep on Bucky shoulder on the long ride to Wakanda. When we arrive, I'm jolted awake by the sudden movements of the jet. I get up and stretch and yawn. The door opens and we are greeted by T'Challa and his family. I see Shuri follow behind her mother and brother. Shuri and I have talked over text a few times as she is the only person my age who understands, somewhat, about the all this superhero business.

T'Challa and Steve have a conversation, and what I gathered from it is that Wanda and Vision are on their way, Along with Thanos' army. I start to feel my heart race, fearing the worst, but everyone around me seems to be doing fine. I try my best to mask my nervous feelings.

Something heroes never talk about is the waiting. The growing of the anxious feeling knowing that the enemy is coming. It's awkward for the most part. Are you supposed to make small talk with everyone, or stay quiet and wait? I go to the jet and grab a snack, knowing the battle will be rough and I will get hungry using all my energy.

Eventually, we see them. Wanda and Vision are heading towards the field protecting Wakanda from the outside world. A small rip is created to let them in. They immediately go inside the castle to start the procedure. We all start to take our places on the battle field. The enemy has to be close right?

I see them. Dog looking aliens running as fast as they can to the border. They are unable to get in, but they must of thought of this and brought their own heavy machines to break through it.

They penetrate through. The closer they come the faster my heart races. I look by me to see everybody in a running battle stance. I look at Steve and keep looking at him. I start to shake, this is my first big battle and this one is life or death. Steve starts yelling and charging towards their front lines. Everybody follows suit.

The battle was hard and intense. Thank god I had something to eat because I don't know if Iw oike be lasted this long. I tried my best to just stun the enemy so that I could last longer put on the field. I followed Steve and Bucky around. I felt a need to protect them, they are like the brothers I never had.

We get to one part of Wakanda where it almost looked like woods. I look over to see Vision in Thanos' hands. Oh no. I look at the scene I see in horror. Wanda desperately is trying to get him out of Thanos grasp.

I try to use my webs to knock him out. He barely falls over, still with Vision in his giant hands. No no no. This can't be happening. I try to tie him up, doesn't work. He then rips the stone out of Visions head and tosses his grey, lifeless body to the side. Wanda screams and runs over to him, holding his head in her lap.

I start crying at the sight of them. Two lovers stripped away from each other. All they wanted was to have a simple life together. Away from all this superhero business.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see a bolt of lighting come down onto Thanos, Thor. He misses his head just getting his shoulder. Thanos grips his neck like he just did to Vision. "You should've gone for the head." the giant purple man says as he snaps his fingers. I scream in horror.

I look over and see everybody fading away to dust. I'm sobbing, screaming their names. I see Bucky and Steve leave. I failed them. I see Thanos himself disappear. I look down at my hands and I'm not fading. Why? They should be here and not me. I run out of our area to see everybody on the field gone. The enemies gone, my teammates gone. I run into the village, no one is here. What the hell is happening?! I sit down where I am and just sob. This wasn't supposed to happen.

Suddenly I hear a noise behind me and an arm wrap around my shoulder. I'm too numb and distrust to care who it is. They rub my back and I finally look up to see a women with a motorcycle behind her. She's pregnant, what is she doing on this battle field pregnant? I look behind her to see a portal, but not like Stranges portals. It's in a hexagon shape with more hexagons getting smaller and smaller filled with almost every color you can think of.

I look up at her, confused. "My name is Jessica Drew, and I'm here to take you away from here." She says in a soothing voice. "I-I can't leave. What about my family and-and the Avengers? Some of them need to be alive! What about my family." I barely get the last sentence out of my mouth without sobbing.

She looks at me, sadness in her eyes. "I'm sorry to tell you sweetheart but they aren't coming back." With that statement she helps me up and guides me through the portal. Everything is gone, and I somehow survived. Why?
