The school had already been shut down, police officers had arrived at the scene. No students truly knew what happened as they exchanged rumours of the word they got from ease dropping and those who had witnessed the scene were far too petrified to put it into words.Elizma Casille, the first-year girl who had been found in the scene, eyes wide with terror on her knees. Trembling. Her face was pale, her hazel eyes drained of all light. She stared into an abyss, a dark void that other people couldn't possibly begin to comprehend. It had taken a while for Headmaster Olson to get through to her and help Elizma orientate herself. Afterall, the police had to ask her questions as they had a duty to take uphold. Whether it was at the cost of a teenager or not, a life had been lost and repercussions had to be taken. The paramedics had descended Alex's body. Was that even the right word to call it? A corpse? No, what was left was no more than just an upper body and head, which also barely was attached to his neck.
"Elizma, I'm officer Venter. I am the one in charge of the Violent Crime Unit in our Police Divisions. I understand that you were the first person at the scene, could you try explain to me what happened?" asked a man looking to be in his 30s. He had a bushy beard that was poorly shaved. Blue eyes with spiky eyebrows. His hair was untidy and combed to the one side. Looking past his oddly informal facial features, he was dressed in a neat and navy, blue tuxedo. His badges hanging proudly on his collar. He had walked over to Elizma who sat on a bench as Headmaster Olson sat beside her with Elizma in her arms. Officer Venter's voice was one that was quite calm, and almost not as mature as what you would expect from a middle-aged man.
He flipped open his notebook and took out a pen after fiddling in the pockets of his blazer for a good two minutes and clicked it.
"Anytime you're ready," he said.
"I-I was just going to the bathroom, and I..." Elizma went silent again.
Her face released a sense of strain and pain wriddled itself on her face a split second later. Her eyes started tearing up and watering."It's okay, you can take your time," said Officer Venter.
"I don't think that she'll be okay to relay any information to anyone today. She seems to be in a state of shock officer, maybe you can try coming back in a day or two," said Headmaster Olson.
Officer Venter sighed and put his hands on his hips as he looked around at his team scrambling all over the scene. Some taking pictures, some taking blood samples and any form of evidence they can reap from the crime scene.
"I do suggest that you don't hold school for the next two days. I'll be back after that and see what we can uncover from what we've gotten from here, so far," said Mr Venter to Headmaster Olson, "I'm sorry for what you had to see Elizma. Okay guys, finish up what you're doing and back to the station ASAP!"
He walked away and sighed.
Within the next few minutes all the officers and paramedics had left the scene.Something caught Officer Venter's eyes as he got out to his car.
"Hey you!!" he shouted at a school student, a third-year who stood outside at a fine distance from the crime scene, but stared at it intensively."Hey you!" he called out again pointing at him.
The boy looked at him and pointed a finger to his chest and asked with an profound uncertainty, "You calling me?"
"Yes, come here."
The boy was hesitant and then walked towards him and slipped under the tape.
He finally reached Officer Venter.
"What's your name, boy?" asked Officer Venter.
"Banny, sir. Look I don't want any trouble, I was just going home which is that way," said Banny pointing to the right, to a not so far away distance.
