"Why do I have to wake up so early, it's so boring. I just want to sleep for hours," she groaned as she slowly slipped out of bed. It was now Wednesday morning and the test series would be starting the following day, she understood what that meant, but she didn't really care for it. Her grades wouldn't change the fact that she had things to do after school that didn't really need academic achievement, but she was still doing so cause her dad would at least like her to pass. She brushed her hair aside walking to the bathroom.

She took a quick shower and got dressed, everything was fuzzy. She had to be careful not to freeze anything whenever she was around water. All it would take was her losing control once and she could sink the entire building into the ice age. She had gotten done with getting ready for school and all she had to do then was stay alert and wait for Mea and her father to come and pick her up.
She heard the car pull up from the street onto Marbury Road and she stepped outside the house. Slipping on her bag and making sure the door was locked. She didn't want anyone breaking in, it would to be their own despair. She saw the black Bentley pull over, it was an antique car. No one else made them nor did they sell them anymore at this point. The Bentley's value would probably be worth way more than it was when Mr Dryer had bought it at first. She walked up to the car, opening the back cab's door and exiting.

"Good morning, Mr Dryer," she said in a playful yet respectful tone to the 6ft tall man with a nice build and hazel-green eyes. Golden brown hair that was cut into a faded hairy beard. A tattoo sat on his right shoulder and he wore a black t-shirt that lay tightly against his body. He was a buff person. He lacked core muscle, but made up for it with his large arms and legs. He played provincial rugby back in his prime and now he was at least 46 years old. He had started forming a few wrinkles above his brow. The texture of his skin seemed rough upon visual inspection.

He spoke, his voice wasn't as deep as the deepest fathoms of water, but it was there. Hoarse and rough around the edges, but his tone was nice and friendly. It was his tone that had made everything about his intimidating build better.

"Good morning, May. How are you today?" he asked, looking at her from the overhead mirror of the car.

"I'm doing quite well, sir. What 'bout you?" she replied smiling at him.

"I'm doing quite well," he said.
That was the last of what he'd say. The normal social convention of greeting someone, now his focus lay on driving. He started driving, pulling over into the road.

"So what's on ya mind?" asked Mea, looking towards May who was staring into an empty space on the floor of the car.

"What you mean?"

"You're zoning out, you heard from your mom yet?" she asked.

"My mom can contact me easily. I hear her voice in my head at random, so hearing from her wouldn't be something new."

"So, what's up?"

"I've been thinking... about everything relating to the group, you know?"

"No, I don't. What's up?" asked Mea preparing herself to listen to a long explanation.

"It's Banny, he's been very distant... he's with that girl a lot."

"Jealous about Chioma, are we? So you still crushing on Banny?"

"What?! Don't be ridiculous!! I got over that two years ago, I like Kevin and you know that!!" shouted May frantically.

"Okay, okay, chill. I was just joking," said Mea smiling and holding back May's arms from her.

"Mphm!! Anyway, as I was saying. He doesn't hang out with us anymore and it's not just that, but it feels like the group is dispersing."

"Speak for yourself, he checks up on me quite a lot," said Mea with a devious smile on her face.
