Banny flung the door open to reveal his dark unlit apartment which he shared with Lizo who had already been staring at the door. Anticipating his return.
"I could hear two people coming up the stairs, I though my ears were deceiving me. Damn, Banny boy, you brought a girl over," he said.
Chioma looked at him, examining his features. He looked shockingly similar to Banny, if you overlooked the darker skin tone and untidy pitch black hair.
"Are you two related?" she asked looking towards Banny.
"No," he answered, the reply was fast and stern.
Banny walked into the apartment and sat beside Lizo and extended his hand, "Take a seat.""Why aren't you the rude one, aren't you going to introduce me to your little lady friend?" asked Lizo leaning towards Banny who pushed him back in annoyance.
"You can introduce yourself later. I brought her here cause we have things to discuss," said Banny leaning back onto the sofa.
Chioma took a seat and looked towards Lizo before saying, "Hi, I'm Chioma."
"Nice to meet you, Chioma. I'm Lizo," said Lizo sparkling a gleaming smile towards her as Banny placed his hand on Lizo's shoulder and said, "You're a great cook, right?"
"Yeah, I guess so. I do way better than the garbage you make us eat every Monday," his face recoiled in a type of disgusted look as he recalled the foul taste of the meal Banny had prepared a day before.
Banny pushed him off the sofa and said, "Then go make something, this is gonna take a while."
Lizo sighed and walked towards the kitchen.
"Uhm, is there a way that I could possibly eat before you give me the explanation?" asked Chioma, giving Banny the largest puppy dog eyes to ever exist.
"No."
Yet again another quick and stern reply from him. Did he lack empathy. She hadn't eaten since leaving her home in the morning to attend school.
"Don't be mean. We have some ice cream," said Lizo opening up the deep freezer.
"YES PLEASE!!! I- I mean... I would like that, thank you very much," replied Chioma trying her best to compose herself.
Albert sat next to Mea, they went home together merely because Mea wanted to talk to Albert. She had kept it a secret to most people, even her bestfriend May, but she had a crush on Albert. Always did, since at least 3 months before the year begun. It was funny to her that she hadn't really been attracted to many people. The only people she could recall ever liking were Albert and before that it was David. She didn't really know why she stopped liking David. Maybe she just liked strong figures in her life, considering that Albert was strong on his own accord. That didn't really add up well, because the very first person that she had ever liked was Banny. They had met near the end of 2019 and got into a hot conversation. He still had some energy back then and she really got him to communicate and act like a person. Her feelings died for him when he started acting like a complete dickhead towards her. She soon found out that he only saw her as a younger sister, or more specifically a replacement for Mia. Her feelings for him died instantly, or maybe more accurately, they converted to the feeling of having an elder brother.
"What you thinking about?"
Mea got jolted back into reality. She looked at Albert and responded with, "Huh?""What you thinking so hard about?" he repeated, this time he stopped walking.
"Nothing much, just got lost in thinking about this entire special-grade thing," she said.
It had been the most crappy reason, but it was sufficient.
