Tobias Marlow was a friendly teen boy in his junior year of highschool. Though he tried hard, he didn't really fit in. He had a few friends..like two..one of them not even human..but the other one was definently 100% human. It was actually his mom, so I guess it didn't really count. Unlike River, he tried to hide his feelings about oatmeal. His dad was always telling him to put his 'stupid passion' behind him, but he couldn't. It was just too hard. He cried himself to sleep every night just thinking about how no one would ever love him for who he truly was..not even his mom supported him. Life was tough.
The day he met River, they instantly became best friends. Every day they would send eachother pictures of their daily oatmeal..and they would always hangout after school. Whenever Toby was having a bad day, like maybe his dad grounded him off of oatmeal again, he would just call up River and she'd try to cheer him up by telling him about the oatmeal she was eating. They just got along so well, and everyone could see that they were meant for eachother..though no one wanted to admit it.
One day, while River and Tobias were hanging out in his room having a light conversation about oatmeal, River noticed a white flake in the crack of the floor.
"What's this?" she questioned after she bent over and held out what appeared to be an oat in her hand. Toby looked at the oat in disbelief.
"Oatavious!" He screamed as he took the oat from her hand and began to stroke it.
"Please tell me you're okay. I'm so sorry..I'll never do that to you again." he bawled. Tears streamed down his beautiful creamy oatmeal skin. River looked at him in shock. Toby froze and gave her an offended look.
"Are you..JUDGING ME RIGHT NOW?! River..out of all the people..you should understand what it's like. I thought you were my friend." He cried as stuck out his lower lip and clutched Oatavious to his chest.
"No-no! I'm not judging you! Please listen to me Toby..I just didn't think anyone else had a special oat." River stammered. She looked so scared, like he was going to kill her. She was scared, alright. Scared she would lose such a special friend like Toby.
"Oh, I'm sorry River. I didn't mean to accuse you of..wait, you have a..special oat too?" Toby said as he looked into River's big, oatmeal-colored eyes. River nodded her head. Her heart was beating hard. This was a revelation. He loved oatmeal as much as she did, and she was beginning to fall for him.
