For a still short moment, everything was black. He had hit his head pretty violently, but woke up to the birds chirping outside only ten minutes later. Toby winced in pain. He didn't want to get up, so he just decided to lay there staring up at the ceiling. He always found staring at the ceiling relaxing. The ripples in the plaster reminded him of oatmeal. He hoped that one day, after he had died and arrived at the gates of heaven, God would have a giant bowl of oatmeal waiting there...just for him. Of course, he wouldn't mind if he died at this point. First of all he'd get that bowl of oatmeal..and second, he would be able to be with River again. But he knew that God had some sort of reason for keeping him on this earth filled with oatmeal haters. Finally, after about fifteen minutes, he slowly stood up on his poor weak legs, which had fallen asleep. He then decided to take a break for now and just go downstairs to eat oatmeal. Unfortunately, he took one step and fell flat on his face due to tripping on a loose floorboard.
"Hey, watch where you're going, gosh!" he shouted at the ground as he sat up and rubbed his swollen forehead. Then in amazement, Toby looked at what had happened. The floorboard had shifted a bit..and there was something underneath. Of course! The old hide-your-stuff-under-a-floorboard trick! Toby thought to himself as he carelessly lifted the oak. Underneath, he found a rectangular metal box. He had a hard time getting it out..it must've weighed at least one pound (though he was youthful, Toby had weak muscles.). He lifted the lid hoping to find something helpful. Inside, there were many folded papers and there was another instant oatmeal pack. Toby dug through the papers...and realised they were all letters addressed to someone named Elisa. Then, he noticed something small at the bottom of the box. It was...a..an oat. Was this a special oat? Did it belong to Tania's dad?
Just then he heard a gasp behind him. He whirled around to see Tania standing behind him wearing a nightgown holding a bat above her head with a half frightened half betrayed look on her face.
"Tania, I can explain!"
