Toby still couldn't believe she was dead. Did what he said about oatmeal really offend her THAT bad? He blinked away tears as rain poured on his bare head. They were putting her lifeless body in the ground....but oh how she was too young to die! When they started to bury her...that's when he snapped.
"No! You can't take her away from me!" He screamed and pushed the grave digger aside. "Not my beautiful River." he held her pale face in his hands and stroked her neck when suddenly, he saw something strange. He was no expert, but there seemed to be strange bruises and cuts all over her neck and arms..and a slightly bigger one on her head. could this be a sign that she was in a struggle? He was suddenly grabbed from behind and dragged away by River's father.
"You idiot! You've already put my daughter through enough. Look. You're the reason she's dead and I NEVER want to see your face again! Get out of my sight, and it'll do you good to stop thinking about oatmeal." The man's wrinkled face started to turn red from anger.
"But sir, I don't think River even-" Toby was cut off before he could finish.
"GO! NOW! Before I kill you too!" Mr. Fab shouted. Toby slowly walked back to his family's car.
"Sheesh, that guy has anger issues. What did you do, Toby?" Toby's dad, Markus Mormeal, gave him a suspicious look.
"And where have you been these past five months?" Mrs. Mormeal asked.
"I really thought you wouldn't notice that I was gone." Toby gave her a surprised look.
"Well it took a while..but then after a couple weeks we noticed that we still had a bunch of oatmeal in the pantry and that was normally about the time I would restock. It's actually pretty nice without you around....no offense." Mrs. Mormeal smiled.
"Oh I see how it is..you guys obviously never cared about me in the first place. you've never loved me, just because I was different..just because I talked to oats and stuff! Why can't you just accept me for who I am?! Don't you care about the pain that I'm going through right now?! My girlfriend just freakin' died, and I think someone murdered her! Toby screamed with tears in his eyes.
"That's it. Toby, get out. you are no longer a son to me. in fact, you never were." Mr. Mormeal shoved him out of the car and drove off. he was now on the side of a country road, in the rain, with no oatmeal..and worst of all, no River.
