River's POV:
Before long, I could hear sirens in the distance. Not long after that, a whole team firefighters and a handful of cops came crashing through the trees.
"Over here, I found the smoke source!" One of the men yelled. Toby was too exhausted to notice which.
"Hey, I found some bodies!" One firefighter shouted. Soon the whole crew was working together to put out the fire and checking to see if we were still alive. I watched all of this commotion from the trees, and of course no one can see me.
I watched as a paramedic checked for a pulse, telling them that "everything is going to be alright". The crew carefully laid Toby and Tania on two stretchers and began to carry them away. Toby turned his head in the direction that I was standing and looked right at me..but I knew he couldn't really see me. It killed me that we were so close from being together, and now I had to wait to be with him for what might be a hundred years. I prayed that he wouldn't forget about me..that he wouldn't find another girl. But somehow, I felt that he would move on. A tear rolled down from my cheek as I realized I could no longer be a part of him. The bond had been broken.
Toby's POV:
The blood rushed literally rushed from my face, mainly because I was bleeding so badly. I remember thinking to myself that I wish I was stronger in that moment and not the pathetic sickly looking stick that everyone saw me as. I wish none of this had happened. I wished I could turn back time and take it all back. Suddenly, I heard the quiet echo of sobbing through the trees. there in the distance, I saw River. She looked right at me, a sadness in her eyes. My mind suddenly filled with regrets, wishing that I could've stayed. I knew in my heart that after what we had, I could never love again. She was my queen, my light, my all. Not to mention she was the most beautiful creature I ever saw. She inspired me to live a full life, and to continue living for what I believe in. And most importantly...we both believed that when there was a problem, oatmeal was always the solution. Once you find someone like River, who shares the same passion as you do, there's really no better love.
