"River! Wake up, the bus will be here in five minutes!" Mrs. Fab shouted up the stairs. River looked at the time. 6:45am.

"At this point I don't really care.." River mumbled under her breath. She put Ottis safely back into his box and threw on some clothes. She didn't even bother to wear her oatmeal sweater.

School was the same. Boring. Lonely. Depressing. She sat down at lunch with her bowl of oatmeal, knowing it was the only thing that would make her happy.

"I love you." she whispered to her bowl. She said it just as another student was walking by. He stopped in his tracks.

"Um..excuse me..but did you just tell your oatmeal that it was loved?" a deep voice inquired behind her. River slowly turned around. There, standing right behind her, was a boy. Quite a lovely looking boy, she noted.

"..um..why? Are you asking so you can make fun of me?"

"No! I jus-" but before he could finish, she cut him off.

"Of course you were. The only people who talk to me do it to make fun of me and I'm tired of it! So leave me alone or I'll stab you with my spoon" she threatened.

"Please! I wasn't going to make fun of you. In fact, I like oatmeal." he cried. He got down on his knees as if he were begging for mercy.

"Oh..I'm really sorry." she mumbled. River lowered her spoon and tucked her hair behind her ear.

"Here, let's start over. Hello, my name is Tobias." he smirked as he flashed his beautiful oatmeal yellow teeth.

"I-I'm River. River Fab." she replied, trying to avert her eyes.

"Hey, is it okay if I sit with you? I'm a new student and I don't know anyone here." he asked with a friendly smile.

"Oh, um..sure! Go right ahead!" she gulped. Deep down inside, River was having a panic attack. She didn't know how in the world to talk to dashing young men. Tobias sat down with, to her surprise, was a bowl of oatmeal. She looked up at him in shock.

"You eat oatmeal for lunch?" she said with shock in her voice.

"You know what, I'm just gonna admit it. River, I am crazy about oatmeal. I honestly can't think about anything else."
