45. I Forgot That You Existed

Y/N's POV

I arrived at Taylors place and realized I had no idea how to start this conversation. Hey Taylor it's me, Hey sorry I forgot that you existed or hey miss americana actually no she said not to call her that. I sigh in fustration before the door opens and my head shoots up like I've been caught committing a crime and she looks at me confused.

"Y/N, what are you doing?" Taylor asks

I HAVE NO IDEA WHY I AM HERE. Suddenly the urge to run is stronger than my will to live. Yet my feet stay planted to the ground while I smile moving my mouth but no words come out I must look like a fish out of water.

Taylor waves her hand in front of me while laughing and says "Y/N? Hello?"

Before the world could take me away I blurted out "I Forgot That You Existed"

She looks back at me with a frown on her face, but she quickly grabs me and pulls me inside her home and I just let her. She pulls me all the way up to her room and says with a glint of hope but anger "Do you rememember?"

"No I don't but I found out that we knew eachother before and I am so sorry I can't remember I never imagined this would happen to me and I am so angry with myself trust me but I want to remember help me remember" I say practically begging

She looks sad for a moment but says "Okay I will"

She invites me to sit across from her on her bed but then I remember and quickly ask her " Were you gonna go out if you're busy we can talk later" she quickly takes her phone out and texts something and puts it back down and says "not anymore, we have all the time in the world"

I wondered who she was gonna see but decide finding out more about us mattered more to me. So I start by asking "How did we meet? Tell me everything"

She smiles and starts " We met at a carnival in the summer and rode the ferris wheel together. I introduced myself and I could tell you were nervous but didn't acknowledge it, you asked me if I was new and I said I was and that I had moved there to write music and you said you'd be my biggest fan" I smiled intently listening and she continues " Then when the ferris wheel stopped at the top you told me that I was the most beautiful girl you had ever seen and I thought you were exaggerating but then you said I was the American dream" I blush when she says that

"Then when the ferris wheel finished we got off and before I left you asked me for my number and we exchanged numbers and as I was leaving you had given me this prize you had won, it was a little bear with a bowtie and you used to call him Drew" she said and this reminded me and my eyes go wide as I tell her "I think I have that bear I found him recently in a box of stuff that contains some of our mementos"

She looks at me curiously and says "really?" I think and say "Yeah I unfortunately can't remember, I'm really sorry I forgot Taylor I can't imagine how that must have felt for you when you first saw me " she smiles at me and says "Well I have to admit it hurt I was very confused not understanding why but when you mentioned the accident I figured that is what happened and then your friends or used to be out friends confirmed it for me."

"I just feel so stupid for hurting you I had no idea and I can't believe I never questioned anything." I say

"I was so heartbroken that we didn't speak but I have no right to be upset when I ran away" she says tears building up

I am surprised by how we both handle this with very little hatred and anger but I suppose at this point in our lives we know better.

"Soph told me how heartbroken I was over you and I want to be angry with everyone but I guess that won't change anything." I said
