While Taiga & Ryūji were getting closer, Kitamura was in America with the love of his life.
Kitamura had spent the last year in America focusing on school & hanging out with Sumire. They've gotten closer than ever before, with both of their feelings growing stronger as time progressed. With Kitamura having a crush on Sumire since class 2C & getting rejected, he decided that he'd give it 1 more chance & ask Sumire to be his girlfriend again.

Kitamura was in his tiny dorm room staring in the mirror at his reflection practicing his speech on how he would ask her out knowing that it wouldn't be an easy task knowing that the last time he got rejected. He thought he had it down to the T, but then he sighed & walked out. Before leaving, Kitamura had asked Sumire to meet up with him at their usual spot where they would usually hang out & help each other with projects. It was a small Japanese coffee shop in Sumire's area. It took him at least 40 minutes to get there with the use of the train, but Sumire's campus was close by, about a 5 minute walk.

As he walked to the coffee shop that was 2 minutes away he got super nervous. He then saw sumire waiting for him on the outside & gulped nervously. He sighed the few meters away he was from her & walked up to her with a faint smile on his face, & his eyes closed.

Kitamura: Hey. Sounding sweet & soft towards her as his hand was raised to his face in a greeting gesture.

Sumire: Hey. She replied.

Kitamura: Y'Know, You Could Have Just Waited For Me On The Inside Right? He asked rhetorically.

Sumire: I Know I Just Wanted To Wait Here.

Kitamura opened the door for her & she chuckled & said "Hmph.. You're Such A Gentleman." & they sat at the window and ordered their regular which were the espresso & the coffee shop famous Japanese cheese sandwich.

Kitamura then looked at Sumire & said.

Kitamura: Uh.. Sumire I Wanna To Talk To You About Something.

Sumire: Whatsup? As she put her phone face down on the table to give him all her attention.

Kitamura: I've Been Thinking About This For Quite Some Time Now And.....

He raised his voice a little louder as anime characters do when expressing their love for someone And I Don't Want Us To Keep Holding Back On Our Feelings For Each Other.

Sumire looked at him a little shocked after that speech.

Kitamura: Look... I Know You're Trying To Look Out For Me And Just Want What's Best For Me By Doing This. But We're Both Hurting Ourselves... And Each Other In The Process. Besides, I'm An Adult Now And I Can Make My Own Decisions.

Sumire looked at Kitamura a bit surprised not knowing what she could say with a tiny smirk on her face, a few seconds went by & when she finally decided to reply to him she did so firmly & confidently.

Sumire: Look Kitamura, Am Not Sure If This Is The Right Thing For Us To Do.  You Don't Know If You'll Be Able To Focus On This Relationship And School All At Once I Jus-. Quickly being cut off by Kitamura.
