It's easy to say that you met everyone upon joining the club (aside from Sayori), just like in the game. But if that wasn't how you met? Here we go!!

Assume that, as per canon, you were friends with Sayori before the events of the game.

Sayori

While you didn't remember exactly how you met her, you two had been friends for a while, having attended the same school in your youth. Despite drifting apart for some time, Sayori had eventually caught up with you on your route to school one day, and convinced you to walk with her again.

Sometimes, another person would join you. You didn't remember his name, exactly... you knew his nickname was something like MC, though, so that's what you referred to him as. He didn't seem to mind at all. Being that he was another one of Sayori's friends, he'd be there quite often.

Nonetheless, you were more than happy to walk with Sayori and start to catch up. She was just as lovely and cheerful as you remembered.

Monika

Like most of the school, you technically knew Monika, just not on a personal basis. She was popular enough that nearly everyone in the school was aware of her existence on some level.

You never truly expected to talk to her one-on-one; she was easily out of your league. By multiple leagues, actually. You'd accepted that you'd probably never get the chance to befriend her– you had other people to talk to, and as interesting as Monika seemed to be, you weren't sure you wanted to join debate club for the sole purpose of talking to her (although you'd heard rumors that she quit).

Life went on just as easily. Although you would occasionally catch sight of her during class, you were uncertain of how to approach her. So out of awkwardness, you just... didn't.

The days still passed regardless. Sometimes it felt like time was dragging slower than a turtle swimming through molasses, but somehow, it also felt like your classes were blurring together. Before you knew it, you were walking through the emptying halls, more than ready to leave after a long day. But just as you were passing the music room, someone slid the door open and nearly collided with you. Startled, you jumped back, trying not to run into whoever it was, and nearly tripped over your own shoelaces.

"Oh, gosh, I'm so sorry," the person exclaimed, putting a hand on your shoulder as a means of stabling you. "Are you alright, Y/N?"

Of all the people to be in front of you, you did not expect it to be Monika.

"I– y- yeah, I'm okay," you quickly responded, trying to ignore the mortified feeling of almost running into someone like her. Also, she knew your name?? That was new, surprising and flustering all at once. "Um— are you?"

Monika giggled lightheartedly and released your arm before stepping over the threshold. "I'm fine. That's my bad for not looking where I was going, ahaha!!"

"No, no, I should have been paying attention, I'm sorry" you exclaimed, picking at the edge of your uniform out of embarrassment. "I just didn't expect it."

"Don't apologize," she insisted, flashing a friendly smile. "Not a lot of people know I spend time there, so..."

It was then that you noticed the pieces of paper Monika was holding. Sheet music?

"Um, I didn't know you played..." You squinted and tilted your head to read the transcription. "Piano?"

"Oh!!" Laughing sheepishly, Monika shook her head. "Well, thank you– but I'm really not good at it, I just started."
