Maybe subconsciously, you knew this was a bad idea. You don't know why you decided to go along with the dare. But somehow, you found yourself confronting your partner in the club room.

"We need to talk," you said quietly. "I... I think we need some time apart."

"...Huh?"

You took a deep breath, trying to stay in character. "I'm breaking up with you."

Sayori

* You regretted everything the second the words left your mouth (as you should)

* The way her face dropped immediately made you fear that you'd permanently ruined your relationship.

* She apologized over and over for "keeping you in a relationship you aren't happy with." You had to interrupt her to desperately insist that it was just a stupid prank, nothing more, and you weren't breaking up with her.

* Suffice to say she was absolutely distraught. You tried to apologize, even if your words felt worthless at this point.

* Ended up thanking you for not actually breaking up with her when she calmed down a bit. It just made you feel worse.

* The entire DDLC fandom coordinated to track you down and dox you :)

Monika

* Well, you don't know how Monika knew it was a joke, but she did. 

* She didn't waste any time telling you that she understood why you might think it was funny, but that you really need to think about the consequences of your actions. What if she hadn't known you were pulling a dumb prank? How would that have affected your relationship? And your future?

* You apologized almost immediately. It was irrationally reli when Monika accepted it.

* She thanked you for being honest, but made it clear that you needed to be more aware of yourself and that you shouldn't be doing things like that to your girlfriend.

* After that, you refrained from pulling any pranks like that on her.

* She was rather weary the next few times you asked to talk to her alone. You felt terrible every time you saw her brace for some kind of bad news.

Natsuki

* She was so oddly non-aggressive at first, you thought that she knew you were joking.

* Thanked you for having the decency to tell her to her face and to not text her or just flat-out ghost her.

* You knew her well enough to see how torn up she was, though she was clearly trying to hide it. Deciding to just rip the Band-Aid off, you told her it was just a prank and braced for her to yell at you.

* Long story short, she was not happy, and was actually incredibly pissed at you!! She stopped herself from yelling at you by taking a deep breath, trying hard to keep herself calm.

* Her final ultimatum: you needed to reconsider your limits on "pranks" if you wanted to keep the relationship. In the meantime, she also needed space to cool down.

* You felt terrible (I hope), but all you could do was give her time and hope she forgave you.

Yuri

* Similar to Sayori, the first thing she did was immediately apologize and practically beg you to forgive her for whatever she'd done wrong.

* You didn't even last fifteen seconds before caving and telling her it was a prank.

* Never once before had you seen the cold, distasteful look that came across her face. It was so drastically different from the calm, reserved girl you knew, it almost scared you.

* It was only for a second, though!! She went right to tearfully lecturing you about how you really need to use your brain for once and consider how this would hurt her, and how it would hurt you in the long run too.

* You nodded along with everything, guilt threatening to swallow you whole, and told her that if there's something, anything you can do to make up for it, you'll do it.

* Even days afterward, you couldn't get that one short expression out of your mind.

MC

* The first words that left his mouth were, "Is this a prank??"

* He didn't mean it as a genuine inquiry, it was more of a shocked reaction, but you couldn't even deal with holding the facade once he said that

* Laughed in nervous relief when you explained what was happening and that you weren't actually breaking up with him, though he quickly sobered up and got surprisingly serious.

* One of the few times he'd get genuinely upset with you.

* Not the best with words, but he managed to convey how he was pretty disappointed in you, although he was thankful that you weren't actually leaving him.

* Pulled the very same prank on you a few weeks later to prove his point of how careless your actions were. It worked very well!!
