Freen POV

Sitting by Becky's side as she slept, I watched her chest rise and fall with each steady breath. The relief of having her safe and sound washed over me, but it was quickly overshadowed by the memories that had been stirred up by tonight's events.

Tears welled in my eyes as I recalled the moments when I couldn't find Becky in the crowd. The fear that had gripped me was all-consuming, and for a brief time, I felt as helpless as I had when I was a child, pleading with doctors to save my mother. It was a painful memory that I had buried deep within me, but tonight it had resurfaced with a vengeance.

I wiped away the tears, my gaze never leaving Becky's peaceful face. In a way, being with her was a balm for my wounds, a reminder that I could protect and care for someone I loved. But that fear of losing someone important to me, like I had lost my mother, was a wound that still hadn't completely healed.

As I sat there in the quiet of the room, I allowed myself to confront the anxiety that had been haunting me for so long. The feeling of helplessness, the knowledge that I couldn't control certain outcomes - it was a struggle that I faced every day in my profession. And now, that fear had encroached upon my personal life, reminding me that vulnerability was a part of being human.

I let out a shaky breath, my fingers instinctively reaching out to brush a strand of hair away from Becky's forehead. She shifted slightly in her sleep, a small smile gracing her lips. In that moment, I realized that I wasn't alone in this. Becky was here, a source of strength and comfort, even though she might not fully understand the depths of my anxiety.

The weight of the past and the present mingled within me, creating a complex tapestry of emotions. But as I sat there, watching over Becky, I knew that I couldn't let fear control me. I couldn't let the trauma of the past dictate my actions in the present.

With a determined resolve, I leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to Becky's forehead. The warmth of her skin against my lips was a grounding sensation, a reminder that I was here, in this moment, and that I had the power to shape my own future.

As I pulled away, I whispered softly, "I won't let anything happen to you, Becky. I'll protect you, no matter what." And with that promise lingering in the air, I settled in a chair next to her, ready to keep watch over her until the morning light.

Becky's eyes fluttered open when she heard soft sobbing, her sleep-fogged mind struggling to comprehend what was happening. As her gaze focused, she saw Freen sitting beside her, tears streaming down her cheeks, her vulnerability stark in the dim light of the room.

"Are you okay?" Becky's voice was laced with concern, her own sleepiness forgotten as she sat up, worry etched on her features.

Freen's trembling voice cracked as she choked out an apology, her guilt evident. The events of the day had clearly taken a toll on her, and Becky's heart ached at the sight of her friend in such distress.

Freen's shoulders shook as she continued to sob, her breath coming in ragged gasps. "I'm... I'm sorry, Becky. It's all my fault," she managed to choke out between sobs.

Without a second thought, Becky moved closer, her arms wrapping around Freen in a comforting embrace. She could feel Freen's body tremble against hers, and it was clear that Freen was in the throes of a panic attack.

"It's okay, Freen," Becky whispered soothingly, her hand rubbing Freen's back in gentle circles. "You don't have to blame yourself for any of this."

Freen's tears soaked into the fabric of Becky's shirt as she clung to her, their bodies pressed close in the darkness of the room. Becky's heart went out to her, understanding the weight of the guilt that Freen carried.

Freen's fingers clenched the fabric of Becky's shirt as she buried her face in Becky's shoulder, seeking solace in her warmth. "I should have been more careful. I should have never let you out of my sight. I can't bear the thought of something happening to you," Freen whispered, her voice trembling with emotion.

Looking into Freen's eyes, Becky could see the fear, the desperation, and the overwhelming need to protect and hold onto what was important. Freen's plea, "I can't lose you," cut through the silence, and Becky felt a rush of emotion surge within her.

Becky's fingers reached up to wipe away Freen's tears, her touch gentle and reassuring. She wanted Freen to understand that she wasn't alone in this, that they were in this together. "Listen to me, Freen. What happened wasn't your fault. It was just a terrible coincidence. And I'm okay, thanks to you," she said softly, her gaze unwavering.

Leaning in, their eyes locked, and in that moment, the unspoken words hung heavy in the air between them. Without hesitation, Becky closed the distance between their lips, her kiss filled with a mixture of emotions - comfort, reassurance, and a burgeoning realization of something deeper.

Freen's response was immediate, her lips meeting Becky's with a fervor that mirrored her own. The kiss deepened, their pent-up emotions finding an outlet in this shared moment of connection. It was as if all the unspoken fears, worries, and feelings were being exchanged through that kiss.

As their lips parted, they remained close, their foreheads touching. Freen's tears had subsided, replaced by a newfound calmness that seemed to emanate from the connection they had just shared.

Becky's voice was a whisper as she spoke, her words filled with a tenderness that only moments like these could bring forth. "You won't lose me, Freen. We're in this together."

Freen's gaze bore into hers, and the weight of their unspoken feelings hung in the air between them. With a small nod, Freen pulled her into another embrace.
