I went home with her after that and she told me about herself on the walk to her house.

"So after I told my aunt that she could suck it I bought my own apartment. She's still my legal guardian- since I'm 17- so she allowed me to do so. She was glad that I was gone. A friend got me signed up for home schooling online. Her brother is home schooled so she showed me the program. It's pretty great really. I like it I don't have to go to school. I only miss not seeing her during those hours but oh well she comes over when school is over. My other friend basically lives with me. He has a bad home situation so he spends the night almost all the time. So basically he's living with me. I told them to come over after I was done at work so they should both be there now." Tara said.

"That's cool." I said quietly.

"Do you have any friends?" she asked.

"No the bullies made sure of that." I said.

"Oh that's awful. Well I'm sure my friends will be yours. They're great!" she said.

We made it to her apartment and she unlocked the door.

"Honey I'm home!" She called as we walked in.

"Tara your home!" A guy yelled and came running up to her. "Oh and you've brought a friend."

"Yep. Ray this is Alexandria. Alex this is Ray the guy that's basically here all the time. He has his own room." Tara said.

I was going to shake his hand but he pulled me into a hug instead which, by the way, hurt like hell.

"It's nice to meet you Alexandria. Oh hey what happened to your face?" He asked.

"Tara your... home..." A girl said as she walked in.

"She happened." I said.

"What? Hey well Alex this is my best friend Brianna." Tara said.

"I know." I said.

Brianna- my bully for the past five years- just stood and stared at me.

"Oh you know each other? She goes to East Roe High, do you go there?" Tara asked.

"Uh-huh." I said.

"And you said you don't have any friends." Tara laughed slightly.

"I don't." I said.

Ray stood and looked back in forth between Brianna and me.

"Uh what's going on?" he asked.

"Nothing. I've seen her at school but we don't talk. It's nice to really meet you... Alexandria is it?" she asked playing this off like it was nothing.

Ray still looked at us wearily but he moved on. We all sat down in the living room and Tara told them I was staying for a while. They didn't ask why but Ray gave me a look like 'we-should-talk'. Shit I get stuck with someone who notices things. Maybe he knows about Brianna and he's going to help me. No what am I thinking he's probably going to beat me up.

We sat for a while and then Brianna asked me to go help her with something in the kitchen. I cautiously followed her. She put a popcorn packet in the microwave and then turned to look at me.

"You can walk out now and completely forget about Tara or things will get bad for you at school tomorrow. Remember its Wednesday so there's still a couple days of torture if you don't leave." She said. Oh goody, the Brianna I know is back.

"What the hell did you just say?" someone asked behind/beside me.

I turned my head to see Ray and he put his hand on my back.

"I always had suspicions that you weren't really all that nice Bri. So this is who you are, a bully to this poor girl. Did you give her the bruises on her face? Did you?" He asked.

She looked absolutely terrified and stood still.

"I asked you a question Brianna! Did you hurt her?" He said again.

"Y-yes. Well not those but-"

"But you made your minions do this. Well you did slap and punch me." I said.

"She did this? Her and her... what did you call them... minions?" He asked. I nodded and he turned to look at Brianna.

"I think you should get out of here. I don't care what you do but just leave and don't speak to Tara, Alexandria, or me ever again. Just go and don't look back." He said.

She walked out and Tara called after her to see where she was going. Brianna said nothing and left.

"T-thanks but you didn't have to-"

"Yes I think I did." Ray said. "You okay?"

I nodded and we hushed as Tara walked in.

"What happened with Bri?" she asked.

"We don't know she just left. But not before making popcorn so let's sit down and watch a movie. I heard I Am Number Four is on about now on channel 235 so let's watch." Ray said.

With that we walked out of the kitchen and sat quietly and watched the movie. I drifted off right about when numbers 4 and 6 started fighting the Mogadorians at the high school.
