Should I just turn around and walk away like I didn't see anything? Or maybe I should- oh shit he's looking over at me now. I spun around on my heels and started heading back to the door. I heard him brake into a sprint and he caught up to me, putting a hand on my shoulder to stop me. I bit my lip and looked at the ground. Can't really pretend I didn't see that can I?

"Uh... hey Ray." I said.

"Alex. Um..." I guess he, just like me, has no idea what to say now. Wait!

"Is that who you have your eyes on?" I asked. Aw he's blushing!

"Uh um yeah it uh... it is." Damn if he keeps getting redder he might just turn into a tomato.  I looked over to catch a glance at the guy he was snogging.  Well isn't he adorable!

"Why didn't you tell me you were gay?" I asked.

"I was... well I was confused about it for a while but then I met Hudson."

"I presume he's Hudson." I said and looked over at the boy.

"Yeah. He's really shy so I doubt he'll be coming over here on his own." Ray said.

"You? With someone shy? I've only talked to you for a few days now and already I know that you are the most talkative man out there."

"I am but I can still by shy around someone I like." He admitted.

"How long have you been with him?" I asked.

"Well we've been dating for about a month now."

"A month? And you haven't even told Tara your gay?" I asked.

"I haven't told anyone besides you and Hudson. At first I was trying to convince myself I wasn't. I totally support gays but I never wanted to be one. I knew what would be said about me if I came out so I just didn't. Plus when Hudson and I started dating it was only a month after school started. I didn't want to be thrown into the world of bullying when the year just started. Hudson especially doesn't deserve that." He said. I raised an eyebrow and he sighed.

"Look at him. He's small and innocent looking. He wouldn't do very well in a fight, which would be bound to happen. I wouldn't be able to really help him either since he isn't in my grade."

I glanced over at the boy. "What grade is he in?"

"11th like you. And he just came to this school this year like I did. It's only October meaning there could be so much harassment sent his way through the year." Ray said. He had lowered his voice so the boy- Hudson- couldn't hear.

"So can I meet him?" I asked. Ray nodded and we walked over to him.

"Hi. I'm Alexandria. One of Ray's friends." I said and smiled so that he wouldn't be so freaked out. He looked really shy and kind of scared to have been talked to. I imagine that's how I always looked.

"H-hello I'm Hudson." he said shyly. I'm not really used to talking but I really am an extrovert. Let's try to make this better.

"I heard you were in my grade. Do you know if we have any classes together? I don't ever pay attention to who's in the room." I mean I never try to. Too afraid that I'll end up looking at someone and they'll decide that they should beat me up because they didn't like the way I looked.

He nodded. "3rd, 4th, and 5th." Whoa. I have most my classes with this guy. There are only 5 classes.

"Have you made any friends?" I asked. I wanted to know some more about their relationship but I don't think that's going to help with him being shy.

"Only Ray." He said. "No one else notices me."

"Sometimes that's a good thing." I said. Ray gave me a sad look and I shook my head. "Well if you want to then you can talk with me. If you've noticed then you know that definitely won't help with making a lot of friends but at least it will be one more."

"I didn't know you were friends with Ray. You always look so sad and lonely. I wanted to talk to you but..."  Hudson looked down shyly.

"I actually only met Ray on... Wednesday. I'm staying with another friend that I met Wednesday that took me in and has been friends with Ray."

"You only met him two days ago and your already friends?" Hudson asked.

I looked over at Ray. "Yeah. You'd be too if you talking with her as much as I have." He said. Hudson nodded.

"Hey why don't we all go out and get some ice cream? I used to go to this amazing place with my mom and grandma when I was younger." I said.

"Want to?" Ray asked Hudson. He nodded and I grinned. I'm actually going out somewhere with people! I haven't had friends since I was 10 and before then I only had 1 so I never went anywhere.

Maybe... things can get better. Just maybe. Wait... is this what hope feels like?
