I walked in with Ray right next to me and that definitely gained a few looks. Okay more like a lot. All of my grade and a lot of the others know that I'm the chew toy of this school. Whoever wants can just beat the living shit out of me. It has stayed being just Brianna and her friends since I got to high school though.

"Is it just me or is everyone looked at us?" Ray whispered into my ear.

"It's not just you." I said.

"Hey we came in time for breakfast. Let's go to the cafeteria." He took my hand and we walked along to the café. We already received looks just being near each other but now that we were hand in hand there were a lot of looks sent this way.

"They're kind of creeping me out." Ray said. I nodded and we went to grab plates. I got a coffee and a chocolate chip muffin while Ray went all out with a piece of bacon, toast, eggs, and a chocolate milk. When we went to sit down he finally let go of my hand. I wasn't complaining though, it was nice to actually be acknowledged in a good way.

"Hey Ray there are quite a few girls looking over at you. You are definitely not bad to look at, so why are you single?" I asked.

"Oh over Tara already? You asking me out now?" He teased.

I rolled my eyes. "I'm serious Ray."

"I have my eyes on someone." He said and smiled.

"Oh now you have to tell me who that is." Whoa. Staying up all night and talking with him has really made me comfortable around him. I never talk like this. I rarely talk at all.

"Maybe." He said.

"Maybe?! No fair. You know who I like." I pouted out my bottom lip.

Ray poked my cheek and said "Life's not fair."

I glared at him and he grinned. I rolled my eyes but couldn't stop the smile from spreading across my face.

"Alex you are amazing." He said. I blinked a few times and stared at him. Did I hear that right?

"Um what?"

"You. Are. Amazing. Seriously you are like the nicest are best person ever. Besides Tara. And you are so bubbly even with what you've been through." I could see that he regretting bringing that up when he noticed that the smile had dropped from my face.

I shook my head. "Let's not bring up all that. Let's keep things happy."

He nodded and I heard the bell ring. Off to first period. I said goodbye to Ray and he gave me a quick hug before running of down the hall.

Not long later in the day was I approached by a girl with a few of her friends standing close by.

"Is it true?" She asked.

"Um is what true?" I asked. And why the hell are you talking to me?! No one talks to me unless they are going to yell some insults.

"That your dating Ray Garren, the senior." She said as though it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Why is that a rumor now?" I asked. There have been a ton of rumors about me but none as innocent as being someone's alleged girlfriend.

"Of course! You two were all lovey dovey seeming in the cafeteria and you walked in together and I heard you guys were holding hands."

"Well we did walk in together and hold hands-"

"So you are a couple?" She asked.

"No. We're just friends." I said.

"Not to be rude but, you don't have friends." She said.

"I didn't. Now I do." I said and turned to walk away. That's the longest conversation I've had with someone at this school -besides Ray- and they didn't say anything offensive or hit me. Sure they said I didn't have any friends, but I didn't. Now I sort of have Tara -depending on if she still even likes me after what I told her about her crush/friend- and Ray is definitely my best friend in my book. Wait... where is Brianna? I haven't even gotten picked on today. What is going on?!?

When school ended I immediately went to find Ray. Does he have something to do with the fact that I wasn't bullied today? Did he tell Brianna to fuck off? Did he beat up her minions? I would have actually liked to see that. Those bitches deserve it. They've sent me to hell and back during and after school. So where the hell are they now?!? I like not being hit or insulted but what the fuck is going on?!?

I looked around and went to where most of the 12th graders classes are. I didn't see Ray anywhere. Did he go outside already? I went over to one of the side doors and walked out. There was no one around this outside part of the school. Except for those two... wait is that Ray? Wait is he making out with another guy?!? What is going on today?!
