I felt a painful thud-thud-thudding in my chest.

"Bri-Brianna?" I asked.

"Yeah please don't tell anyone! I haven't even told Ray." She said.

I nodded and stayed silent.

"Okay now you tell me." She said.

"I-I..." I stuttered. She shook her head and raised her eyebrows. "I can't."

"Why not?" She whined.

I don't know... maybe the fact that she's sitting right in front of me? That I am in her house? That she likes someone else? That she doesn't realize that she is the only possible person that I could like? That she is the one who has saved me? That she-

"Alex?" she asked snapping me out of my thoughts.

"I-It's nothing. Just... never mind. You want to talk about something else?" I asked.

"Sure... like what?"

"Anything." I said.

"Okay um... well... now I don't know what to talk about." Tara said.

"Neither do I."

"I'm sure we can think of something. There is another two hours before Ray will get back."

Despite her saying that, we thought of nothing to do. I went back to our room and I got out an old book I had packed. It was a teal, beaten up, dirty, raggedy old book but it meant more to me than you'd ever know. I sat down on the end of the bed and looked at it. I opened it up and as I hummed I wrote down words to put into a song.

I eventually got the right tune and I started to sing what I had written down.

I would have kept singing but I felt as though someone was watching. I looked up to see Tara staring at me. I closed my book and put it down beside me.

"Did you write that?" She asked. I nodded. "It was amazing! Your voice is spectacular!"
