The lingering hallways were silent and lonesome as I crept along its walls in darkness. The passageway ahead of me was lit by the glow of an occasional torch, or from a quick bolt of lightning from a nearby window.
It was way past curfew, not a soul was in sight besides the Prefects that roamed the halls at night. As I made my way towards Sebastian and mine's agreed meeting spot, the air was deathly still. The only sound finding its way to my ears was the crackle of fire and my quiet footsteps along the stone floor.
Sebastian said to meet at the top stair railing that faced the library in Central Hall. The same place we met two years ago during our first late night library venture.
It was a little past one in the morning when I arrived at Central Hall, managing to dodge the lingering Prefects. I found my way to the top of the stairs, and there he was.
Sebastian stood at the bottom of the large set of stairs right in the center, eyes already gazing upon me. He leaned back against the railing, legs crossed, and arms folded across his chest. As he stared, he had his typical smirk plastered on his face.
I caught myself staring a little too long and finally headed down to meet where he was. As I quickly walked down the stairs, I stared at him a little bit more. Sebastian wore a green jumper that fitted his body nicely. Allowing a little bit of toned muscle to show around his upper body. It was a different sight to gaze upon since our fifth year, each day I find something else about him that has changed. Still, his trademark smirk never changed and remained as I walked towards him. I told the butterflies in my stomach to leave.
"You're late Bennet."
"And your point? Slytherin's common room is closer, and I also had to wait for some Prefects to get out of my path."
The tips of his hair were wet, like he just got out of a bath. I noticed a bit of amber in his eyes from the fire's glow. He still smelled like musky wood with a little bit of spice, still not the same smell I remember from fifth year. It was strong, no wonder why the girls are all over him this year.
"I'm messing with you Eliza. Now, as usual there are many Prefects below so the Disillusionment Charm will be needed again."
I peeked over the railing, there were Prefects everywhere. I believe more were added to the area to make sure students are back in their common rooms due to the Azkaban News. Or it could be the fact that Sebastian snuck into the Restricted Section one too many times and Ms. Scribner had enough.
I casted my charm, "Rights, let's get on with it then." I started to head down the second set of stairs behind me when Sebastian grabbed my arm.
"Hold on now, since there are more Prefects watching the area, we need to stick together this time. Don't forget the last time during fifth year when we separated, and we both got caught and ended up in detention."
I silently laughed, "How could I forget? After Scribner found out we snuck in every day for a week she was livid!"
"I swear I thought she was going to turn us both into ferrets." Sebastian grinned, something I missed ever so much.
He cast the charm as well, "Since I'd very much prefer to not get detention this week, I'm guiding us down. Follow me."
I didn't have time to react as Sebastian found my hand and interlaced his fingers with mine and we went. We quietly tip-toed down the stairs with our hands interlocked and bodies very close together. I could feel his body heat radiate off him. I bumped into Sebastian a few times when he came to a sudden halt to avoid being spotted by a Prefect. He let out a soft chuckle every time.
