🗡️🗡️🗡️"Okay, so what are we doing for the school festival?" Iida clapped his hands together after gathering every 1-A student to the common room.
"I thought we decided on a maid café?" Kaminari replied, charger hanging from his mouth.
"No, you decided on a maid café, we told you to get fucked." Mina clapped back, grimacing when Kaminari gave her his best puppy dog eyes.
"A haunted house?" Shoji suggested. A few classmates shook their heads.
"That's overdone, so is a maid café...we need something original," Jungwon chimed in, resting his head on Aeri's shoulder.
"What about an exhibition of some sort?" Momo said, her eyebrows furrowed as she tried to think of some ideas.
"That's gonna make the other classes think we're boring, they hate us enough already." Sero sighed.
"Um...what about a concert?" Jirou asked shyly, raising her hand.
"That's a good one!" Jungwon gasped excitedly. "Most people love music and I've never seen a class do a concert before,"
"Yes, that is a good idea..." Iida agreed. "All in favour of a concert, please raise your hand." Everyone complied, with the exception of Bakugou, Mineta and Kaminari. Bakugou had simply zoned out and hadn't heard what they were saying, but the other two were dead set on a Maid Café and were now sulking.
"Okay, concert it is! Jirou, you know the most about music so how about you lead us?" Iida suggested. Jirou looked up and nodded quietly, happy that her idea was being used.
"Who here can play an instrument or sing?" Jirou asked, looking around. the room. The twins raised their hands, as did Bakugou, Momo and Kaminari. Jirou nodded to the twins, wanting them to elaborate.
Jungwon answered for both of them. "Aeri can play guitar and bass and I sing," he said matter-of-factly, looking very proud of himself.
"Singing in the shower doesn't count." Sero joked but Kirishima shook his head.
"He actually can sing, we went to a karaoke room in Korea and he was getting perfect scores the entire time! Hyunjin and Amajiki were there too!" He chimed enthusiastically and Jirou nodded.
'You went to karaoke without me?' Aeri wrote, looking offended.
"You were too busy being tortured by the women, we had to do something to pass the time!" Jungwon said, eyes wide as if he'd been caught doing something he wasn't meant to. Clearly, they had all agreed not to tell her. Aeri glared at him but apologised to Jirou and gestured for her to go on.
Jirou asked Kaminari, Bakugou and Momo the same question and found out that Kaminari could play bass since he claimed his parents wanted him to play an instrument and bass was the easiest, Bakugou could play the drums, and Momo had been playing piano since she was a child.
"Right so we'll have Jungwon and I on vocals, Aeri and I on electric guitar, Kaminari on bass, Momo on keyboard and Bakugou on drums," Jirou clapped her hands together. "Now we need people on technical support, dancers and costume design."
People began to raise their hands for the positions they wanted and they all got them, except for Mineta who wanted to be on costume design. The girls didn't trust him since he was likely to send them on stage in outfits that were more like lingerie than actual clothes. In the end, the twins were put on costume design since the class decided they dressed the best out of everyone, to which Aeri and Jungwon flashed proud smiles. Jirou thought it would be too much work for them since they were already in the band, but they insisted they had connections so they didn't really have to do anything other than gather measurements and place the order.
"Aeri do you have your own electric guitar?" Jirou asked. "I only have one..."
Aeri nodded. 'It's at my house so I'll have to go home to get it,' she scribbled and Jirou huffed out a sigh of relief. Most of the class had disappeared by now, going off to plan their parts for the concert.
"When can you get it? We need to start rehearsing as soon as possible," Jirou questioned. "Sorry, I know it's inconvenient..."
'Don't be silly, it's not inconvenient at all,' Aeri shook her head. 'I'll get my dad to take me in an hour or so.'
"Okay, perfect thank you."
🗡️🗡️🗡️
Aeri walked back into the dorms an hour later just as Jirou was setting up the instruments in the common room. Her guitar case was slung over her shoulder whilst her dad carried her amp behind her. Aeri didn't know if Jirou had a spare for her so she brought it just in case.
Aizawa deposited the heavy amp on the floor and left, wanting to take a nap. Aeri and Jungwon waved him off and Jirou rushed over to her.
"This is an expensive one! When you said you played guitar I didn't think you meant you played seriously, I thought you meant just as a hobby!" Jirou gushed. "I didn't see it when we went to your house!"
"We had to do something to pass the time in middle school so we were in band. Aeri's been playing for 4 years now. She can't keep the guitar in her room because Nari likes to attack it, it's kept in one of the guest rooms." Jungwon answered for her whilst Aeri busied herself with unzipping the case and taking the instrument out.
Jirou gasped again. "It's beautiful..." Her eyes sparkled. The guitar was a deep forest green Fender Stratocaster with a black pickguard. It was quite basic compared to Jirou's guitar but the girl clearly had an intense love for music and instruments as a whole.
'What songs are we playing?' She wrote before hooking up her guitar to the amp and starting to tune it since she hadn't played in a few months.
"We're playing an original song first to engage the audience and then Jungwon wants to play a few Arctic Monkeys songs. He said you know them all on guitar already so I'm counting on you to teach me." Jirou smiled when Aeri looked up excitedly. She gave Jungwon a look and he confirmed what she was thinking.
"Yeah, we're playing 'Pretty Visitors', 'Brianstorm', 'Arabella' and 'R U Mine?', your favourite ones. We can engage the audience with the chorus of 'Pretty Visitors'."
"You have great taste, by the way, I love Arctic Monkeys," Jirou grinned wider than Aeri had ever seen her smile before, she really was in her element. "I know how to play 'R U Mine?' so we can start with that one and teach those two over there their parts." She nodded to Bakugou, Kaminari and Momo who were busy setting up their instruments.
'Do you want me to find the tabs for Kaminari? I don't know anything about drums so I can't help you there...' Aeri wrote and Jirou nodded gratefully. Aeri clicked off her notes app where she'd been writing and went to Google, searching for the tabs she needed to play the song on bass. It was pretty easy to find since Arctic Monkeys were a popular Western group that people liked to cover.
She clicked back into her notes and began to write, walking up behind Kaminari, who was arguing with Bakugou over who knows what and tapping him on the shoulder. The boy startled and turned, calming down when he saw it was just her. Aeri showed him her iPad. 'Can you read tabs?'
"For bass? Yes."
"What the fuck else would it be for?" Bakugou clicked his tongue and Kaminari glared at him. When he turned back around, Aeri already had the tabs for the song up. He scanned them quickly before speaking.
"Oh thank god, it's an easy one," Kaminari huffed a sigh of relief. "Can you send me that please?"
Aeri nodded and AirDropped them over before heading back to her instrument whilst Jirou found the notations for Bakugou who'd already confirmed he knew how to read them, looking very offended that she'd even asked that question.
"Okay! Let's run through it!" Jirou called, clapping her hands together. "You take the lead guitarist role for the covers, you know the songs better and I'll be sharing the vocals with Jungwon anyway so it's only fair." She whispered to Aeri.
Aeri gave her a thumbs up and a grateful smile before Jirou began counting the group in.
