Two Young Hearts

Chapter 3

The next week I woke up to a facetime call from Veronica. I was so tired I could hardly open my eyes but I managed to press the pick up button. As soon as I picked up she started laughing at me.

"What?" I ask, drowsy.

"Girl, GET UP! The cast list is up! Juilliard is waiting at the café for us!" she says, and suddenly I'm wide awake.

"I'll text you guys on the group chat when Lucas and I are leaving." I say, rolling backwards onto Lucas. 

Veronica hangs up laughing as I continue trying to wake Lucas up.

"Hm? How are you awake before me?" Lucas asks, rolling over to face me.

"Cast list is up! We have to go meet Veronica and Julliard at the café! Come on, quick!" I say, practically jumping out of bed and throwing a white spaghetti strap top on and a white zip-up hoodie and some jeans and we run out the door.

Once we were in Lucas's car I texted the group chat saying we were on our way.

"So... this Julliard guy... should I be worried, because I kind of am," Lucas says, and I burst out laughing.

"No! Absolutely not, Julliard is NOTHING to worry about I promise you!" I say, laughing.

"How are you so sure?" he asks, he still doesn't get it.

"1. He has pink hair, and 2. He TOTALLY checked you out when you first came. Lucas, Julliard is like, the gayest person I have ever met," I say still laughing.

"Well when you put it that way I should be more worried about him hitting on me!" Lucas says laughing. 

We arrived at the café and Veronica was waiting out the front for me, she ran, squealing, up to us and gave me a huge hug and then hesitated before giving Lucas one too.

"Sorry! I'm a hugger!" she says laughing, and Lucas says it was fine.

We went inside and Julliard was waiting for us. We sat down with him and he nearly burst when Lucas sat next to him, which made all of us laugh. Once we were all settled into our seats Veronica got her phone out. 

"I can't wait! I REALLY want to be in the main cast!" she says.

We all wait in anticipation as she opens up her email. 

"Dear Veronica... We are pleased... OH! IT SAYS PLEASED!... We are pleased to offer you a role as Alana Beck... I GOT IN! I'M ALANA!!" she screams, hugging me. 

Veronica then relaxes as we wait for Julliard.

"Dear Julliard... We are pleased to offer you a role as... Oh my GAWD!" Julliard exclaims, "I GOT CONNOR!"

Now it was my turn. They wanted me to read all of the letter because they had been too distracted by their roles to pay attention to anything else it said. I opened my email with closed eyes and we all counted down before I looked.

"Dear Maya... We are pleased to offer you a role as... Oh I can't look!" I say, shoving my phone at Lucas.

"We are pleased to offer you a role as Zoe-" Lucas finishes, but I grab the phone from him as soon as he says Zoe's name.

"You're joking... Ohmigod! I'm Zoe!" I say, starting to cry. Juilliard rushes over and he and Veronica squeeze me so tight.

"So proud of you sis!" Julliard says, and I decided that that would be an ongoing thing between us, now that we are playing Connor and Zoe Murphy.

"Read the rest!" Lucas says, kissing my head and putting his arm around my shoulders. 

"Uhm, okay," I say, wiping my eyes, "We think that your experience and skills will be a valuable asset to our production. If you are to accept this offer you will be eligible for the following in accordance with our company's policies. Weekly salary of $2,100 by check or direct deposit. Up to 20% of your monthly gross salary will be given to you as a performance bonus. Standard benefits including 3 paid sick leave. Medical and dental insurance. To accept this offer, sign and date the contract attached and email it back to us by next week. Your first rehearsal will be the following week. Your Production Stage Manager will be Ava Kreyman.
