Two Young Hearts

Chapter 33

The next day Johnny and I go out for lunch. I felt like I was going to explode. I was so excited to tell him. A worker brought us to a table and we sat down. As soon as Johnny sat down I burst.

"I have HUGE news!" I say, trying my hardest not to yell. 

"I actually have something to tell you as well," he said.

"Ohmigod! Twins!" I say, still really excited. 

"Let's decide what we want to eat, and then we can share." he says, and I agree.

I stare at the menu but I can't focus. I needed to get it out of me. Johnny said he decided and I pretended I had as well. Johnny said I should go first, and I was so glad. 

"Okay so, all of this week and last week Kim and Lucas have been giving me-" I say, but I get cut off by my phone ringing. 

Sarah was calling me. I apologized to Johnny and picked up. 

"Hey Sarah, what's up?" I ask.

"I'm in town and I have Goodwin. I really want to see the new house, so maybe, I can drop Goodwin off and you can give me a tour? If you're free of course." she says.

"One second." I say, putting myself on mute, "Hey Johnny, my sister is coming to drop off Goodwin. I'm so sorry, but I have to go. Luckily we hadn't ordered yet! But how about we postpone this and you can come over tomorrow. You can see Goodwin, and we can talk!"

"Yeah, that sounds good. Text me with times after you've gotten Goodwin. I'll see you later." he said, half smiling as he got up. 

We left the restaurant and I went to go meet Sarah. Once I got there Goodwin was so excited to see me. I picked him up straight away and gave him a huge hug before bringing him and Sarah inside. I took a picture with Goodwin and posted it on my Instagram - I captioned it: One of the happiest feelings is being permanently reunited with your dog after months of being apart. You haven't felt real joy until you've felt that." before helping Sarah unpack all of Goodwin's stuff from her car. We unpacked his bed, food and water bowls, food and treats. His shampoo and conditioner. His brush and his lead. Then we did about three trips from the car to the house with all his toys. I didn't even realize I had bought him that many. 

Then I took Sarah on a tour of the house. I showed her the living room, kitchen, my bedroom and the backyard. All the important areas. Sarah said she loved it and it was the perfect starter home, and I totally agreed. Then I told her my news because I didn't get to tell Johnny. 

"Okay Sarah, I'm about to tell you something, and I'm not one hundred percent sure so don't tell anyone and don't post anything about it. It stays between us, okay?" I say, not wanting Lucas to find out I might know. 

"Okay. Should I be nervous or excited?" she asks. 

"Honestly, both. Because that's how I'm feeling right now." I say and we both laugh, before I finally tell her. "At the end of the year I'm going on a trip to Disney World with Lucas, and my best friend Kim and Lucas have both been giving me signs that he is going to propose while we are there! I just needed to tell someone because I am so excited and hope that I'm picking the signs up correctly."

"What have the signs been?" she asks. 

"Well first, they have been hanging out a lot, just them two, messaging late and hanging out after class with these huge folders and books and other things. Then Kim told me that I needed a dress for a fancy dinner while we were at Disney that was apparently "life changing". And then she asked for my ring size and AS SOON as I answered she started texting someone. Then the rest of that day she kept bringing me to bridal shops and cake shops that specialized in wedding cakes, asking me which ones I might like and all that." I say, and Sarah stands there for a while, mouth hanging open. 

I gently close her mouth and pet her head and she snaps back into focus. 

"I hope we're BOTH reading the signs correctly. Because from what you are telling me, it sounds like he is!" she says, and we start getting all excited about it. 

We were excited because 1. I get to spend forever with Lucas, 2. I would be the bride and she would obviously be my maid of honor and 3. HOPEFULLY we won't get any bad news on the day like we did for Jodi's wedding. 

Sarah was going to be staying in Ohio for the next two weeks but she has something on graduation day so she won't be able to make it, but it's fine because at least we will be able to stay together for a bit before I go on my trip.

Later that night after Sarah had gone home, I messaged Johnny and we planned for him to come over to mine in the afternoon.
