Hailees late, again. this is the third time this week shes come home late, I understand that her work is very important but being here with me and Morgan is important also. Morgan is my Neice and my brother asked me and Hailee to take care of her tonight. I sat on the couch with Lucky and Tucker by my side and Martini on my shoulder until I heard morgans cries from upstairs, I quickly put Martini down and ran upstairs to get morgan. "Hey there sunshine" I say softly while Morgan rubs her red, puffy eyes "What happened?" I ask her while picking her up "b-bad d-dream" when Morgan said that I immediately wrapped my arms around her and stroked her long brown hair while walking downstairs. "Shh shh its gonna be alright" I say to her "Do you wanna eat something?" I ask her and she nods "Alright what would you like?" "P-pancakes" I nodded and got out the items I needed, I didnt care if it was 9:30 at night all I cared about was taking care of Morgan. I finished making Morgans pancakes and poured the syrup to look like mickey mouse ears since I knew she would only eat them if they had the syrup like that.
After Morgan ate her pancakes she sat down on the couch and put on the mickey mouse club house while I put Hailees meal in the fridge. I sat down next to Morgan to see that she was dozing off barely able to keep one eye open. I let Morgan fall asleep on the couch for a little bit until I picked her up and put her back in the bed, I kissed her goodnight and whispered 'I love you 3000' before I turned off the lights and closed the door.
I sat back down letting the hours pass by while I watch T.V until the door opens and I see Hailee walking in. "Hey babe im ho- oh hey!" She says excitedly, I nod in return as I was still mad at her for being late "Babe? are you okay?" Hailee walks closer and sits down next to me "Whats wrong?" Hailee asks waiting for an answer but she realizes that shes not going to get one. "Look im really sorry I came home late...its just I was so busy at the st-" "I dont wanna hear it Hailee, you did remember that you and I had to watch Morgan tonight right?" I stand up crossing my arms while Hailee looks down "Of course..I had to take care of her by myself Hailee!" I whisper shout so Morgan doesn't wake up "Y/N-" "No! Hailee this is the third time this week that you've come home late! Its 11:30 I waited for you to show up but you never did!" Hailee then looks up at me with regret and guilt. "Y/N I know and im so sorry I wasnt there. I tried to get home early but I couldnt and thats my fault" Hailee brushes her hand against mine and soon enough our fingers interlock "Hailee- I just need you to be here sometimes and thats hard when your barely ever home" Hailee nods at me and pulls me in for a tight hug when she notices a tear sliding down my cheek. We stay in a hug until Morgan walks down the stairs with a Children's book in her hand"U-uncle Y/N? Aunt Hailee?" Morgan walks closer to us as Hailee wraps her arms around Morgan and picking her up "Whats wrong sweetheart?" Hailee asks Morgan as she holds up her book "c-can you read to me?" Hailee looks at me and I nod as we sit down on the couch with Morgan in the middle.
We finish reading the book and Morgan is still not asleep so Hailee starts softly singing 'You are my sunshine'
