I know
That something has changed
Never felt this way
But right here tonight
This could be the start of something new
It feels so right to be here with you, oh
And now, looking in your eyes
I feel in my heart
Feel in my heart
The start of something newOh, yeah
Now, who would've ever thought that, oh
We'd both be here tonight
Yeah, and the world looks so much brighter
With you by my sideThere was nothing more literal than the words "saved by the bell" for Gracie in that moment. Before the bell rung, Gracie was playing the piano for "Start of Something New" watching Ricky and Nini have the time of their lives just singing to each other as chaotic choreography happened around them. However, that never seemed to bother Ricky and Nini as they smiled at each other, barely ever taking their eyes off of one another.
It made Gracie feel sick, and she hated feeling this kind of jealousy. She knew that Ricky and Nini deserved to be together and she should be happy for them no matter what happens. She just wished that it wouldn't all have to happen right in front of her while she still has to pretend like she's fine.
"Yes! Yes! Whoo!" EJ cheered as the bell rung and the piano fell silent. The chaos died down as they turned to EJ with questioning looks. "Sorry. I really love Thanksgiving."
Gracie couldn't help but laugh with the rest of the students as she started to pack things up for the day.
"Okay, hold on," Miss Jenn yelled over all the laughter and different conversation that began. "I know everyone is excited for the holiday break. But I'm me, and I have notes. Ricky and Nini, that was good. But it could be better. She said in the spirit of holiday cheer. Your homework over this break, all of you, is to please go on vocal rest. And go over your lines, too, which is hard to do on vocal rest. But make it work. And remember, may nothing ever block your doorway to happiness."
"Excuse me!" Mr. Mazzara poked his head in the classroom.
"Starting now," Miss Jenn said, before going over to meet up with him.
"Some speech," Gracie looked up to see who was talking to her and would've never expected it to be Gina standing there.
"Yeah, can't wait to see what she comes up with for opening night," Gracie responded, getting the two of them to laugh slightly.
There was a brief pause as Gracie finished gathering the rest of her things together before Gina rested her arms on the piano. " I just wanted to see if you were okay."
Gracie looked up at Gina surprised to for many reasons. The biggest one was that the two girls never really talked that much so she found it weird that Gina was checking up on her.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Gracie shrugged. "Why do you ask?"
"I'm sorry," Gina shook her head, realising she might be over stepping here. "It's just, you've been looking upset recently. And I know we aren't exactly that close or anything, but I just wanted to check up."
