A few days later, Blizzard and Spruce went out into the forest to go elk hunting. They walked out into a nearby meadow where they saw some elk standing over by trees at the other end.
There were five elk, one male, two females and two foals.
Creeping over to the elk by hiding down close to the ground and using the high grass for cover, the two wolf brothers were boxing in their soon to be prey.
Once the wolves were close enough, Spruce and Blizzard leaped up from hiding in the grass and began to run towards the elk.
All of them ran away as the wolves went after them. Blizzard and Spruce tackled and killed a female, and then went after her foal.
Suddenly, another juvenile wolf came out of nowhere, and lunged into the fleeing foal, breaking it's neck and knocking it over.
The wolf was black and dark gray with white streaks in his fur. He and the wolf brothers stared at each other, the wolf brothers in disbelief at what just happened.
And the wolf was surprised because he was watching when the both of them were hunting.
Spruce then tried to take the foal away from the wolf because he and Blizzard were hunting, and they were going after it before the other wolf showed up.
The wolf growled and lunged at Spruce and tried to attack him. Spruce and Blizzard jumped and attacked him, making him back down.
The wolf's name was Eclipse, and he lived with his parents. He would be the future leader of his pack, which would be called Battle pack.
Eclipse then grabbed the foal by it's neck and dragged it into the forest.
Spruce and Blizzard ate some of the cow elk and brought some back for their family. It wouldn't be the last time that they saw Eclipse.
