Ah, It's You

Flashback

"Wait! Miss Y/L/N!!" Miss Blanchett yelled out after you, in the parking lot of the school. It was graduation night and you finally did it. You wished your parent's could've been there and they did too but at least they attended virtually. Your mom and dad had work they couldn't get out of in Singapore. They did try but... here you were, alone on graduation night anyways. Yay!!!

"WAIT!! I didn't get to congratulate you..." Miss Blanchett stopped for a moment, putting her finger up to signal to wait. She was trying to catch her breath it seemed because she was running after you. "Geeze, you're fast!!" Miss Blanchett laughed. "I don't want to hold you up, sweetheart... I just wanted to tell you congratulations! It really has been an honor being your teacher" She said sincerely.

"It's been an honor for me as well, truly Miss Blanchett... You... You taught me so much. I... Thank you, is what I am trying to say" Y/N laughed. Miss Blanchett reached out, grabbing your hand. "Thank YOU. Student's like yourself don't come around very often. It was my pleasure, Y/N...Truly" she smiled sincerely. Her eyes had a sparkle in them, you never really noticed before. Wow was she beautiful! I mean, you've always thought that before but... something about her right here, and now...

"Well... I must be going Y/N. Will you please visit me again some day?" Miss Blanchett sounded as if she really meant that. "I will some day, I promise... As long as you'll have me" Y/N smiled and Miss Blanchett back at her. Miss Blanchett's eyebrow went up, in a rather inquisitive way, and Y/N couldn't quite figure out the look in her eye.

However, the look was gone now in the next moment, just like that! "Well, I'm off. Good luck, in everything you do, dear" Miss Blanchett leaned in and gave Y/N a hug. It was exactly what Y/N needed. Miss Blanchett wasn't aware of it but Y/N had been melancholy all day and this is exactly what she needed right now, in this moment. "You as well, Miss Blanchett" They pulled away and began parting, going their separate ways. "It's Cate, by the way" She shouted.

"Cate..." Y/N nodded. Cate saluted Y/N and smirked at her as she walked away. Y/N did the same, mirroring her. "Don't forget to visit!!!" Cate yelled. "I won't!!!" Y/N laughed at the blonde who almost backed into a car as she was walking. She smiled at her one last time, and turned around, disappearing around the corner.

"Mom, I won't forget. I'm headed to the store now" Y/N said, trying to hide the irritation in her voice. She was home for Christmas and her mom was having her run to the store for Christmas lights, since the one's they had died on them. Y/N pulled into the lot, and walked inside Target. She was booking it fast! Usually she took time to check out the dollar stuff in the front but she just wanted to be home, so she booked it to the back of the store where the light's were.

Y/N growled, exasperated because all they had left were the blue ones and the rainbow color lights. Her mom specifically asked for the gold ones and she knew how specific her mom was about these kinds of thing's. "Fuck me hard" She muttered, a little too loudly. She heard a laugh coming from the isle over. "Oops... that's embarrassing, hope they don't have a kid with them" she thought to herself.

She heard heels clicking on the other side, sounded like they were making their way over to the isle she was in. "Y/N???" she heard a familiar voice. "Miss Blanchett!!!" Y/N said, shocked. "So, that was you muttering obscenities??" Cate joked, laughing at the girl who was absolutely RED in the face. "Oh my god, this is embarrassing" Y/N put her head in her face and laughed, shaking her head. "Please!!! You and I both know I've heard far worse. I am a High School English teacher after all" Cate reassured.

"Plus, you're what?? 22 now?? A little too old for detention, I presume" She teased. Y/N shook her head, laughing nervously. "Well, how the hell are you?? I haven't seen you in what feels like ages!! How is college? Life? Tell me!" Cate looked at her, with that same genuine curiosity. "I've been doing well, managing... just barely but I am managing" Y/N joked. "How are you Miss Blanchett?" Y/N asked.
