They were in the parking lot of IHOP, everyone saying their goodbyes. Y/N's parents went over to their car at this point, leaving Y/N and Cate alone. "So, what are you up to today Blanchett?" Y/N asked coyly. Cate smirked, then blushed.

   "I think maybe I should come over.... To help you decide" Y/N bit her lip. "Hmm that right?" Cate leaned in closer. "Mhmm..." Y/N leaned in also, getting dangerously close. "I don't know if I need help if I'm being honest with you " Cate shrugged. "Yeah?" Y/N caresses her arm.

   "Yeah, in fact I don't think I need help. I think I already made my mind up about what it is I'm doing tonight..." Cate looked Y/N up and down with her fuck me eyes. "What is it you're doing?" Y/N licked her lips. "I think you mean... who?" Cate smirked. "Who are you doing tonight, Cate?" Y/N played with the buttons on Cates shirt.

Cate laughed deeply and seductively. "Come over and find out..." Cates eyes lingered on Y/N, scanning her from head to toe. "Yeah?" Y/N laughed, resisting the urge to lean in and take her right now in that parking lot, coming dangerously close to doing so. "No" Cate bit her lip.

"Wh- No?!?" Y/N looked at Cate really confused. "Not tonight" Cate smirked. "You are such a tease" Y/N's mouth dropped open and she laughed in disbelief. "No, not tonight" Cate said seriously. "You're serious... Oh! I'm sorry... did... did I misread something?" Y/N looked at Cate, concerned she fucked something up along the line.

"No, you did not misread something" Cate said softly, reassuringly. This did bring Y/N some comfort but she was still very confused. "Oh, I see!" Is all Y/N got out. Cate laughed softly, amused by Y/N. "With all respect , do you? Or are you just saying that?" Cate smiled, calling Y/N on her shit.

"No... I suppose I don't understand. Being completely transparent here" Y/N shrugged, a little frustrated and very confused. Not frustrated by Cate, just that she didn't understand. "I want to... I would love no more than to bend you over, right here. Right now.... But... I'm not going to do that, Y/N. Do you know why?" Cate smiled.

"You and I would end up in jail and my parents are right over there" Y/N pointed at the car her parents were in. "Well, yes.... State the obvious!" Cate laughed. "I of course meant other than those things!" Cate rolled her eyes playfully.

"Well, I'll tell you..." Cate smiled at the ground. "I want to do this right. I don't want a fling. I like flings a lot. They're fun, they're nice... they just... they don't... fulfill you..." Cate went on, looking at
Y/N. "At first, that's what I wanted... with you... that's all I ever thought we could be" Cate went on.

"... but I don't want that anymore. You invited me over for Christmas, so I didn't have to spend it alone, you and I shared things that I have never dared to do with anyone else. You've taken me out of my comfort zone, made me take risks.... I'm not this person, normally but with you, I am. I like that" Cate explained.

"So, I want to see where this goes..." Cate smiled at her, looking up. "It's okay if you don't want this. It's okay if you only wanted something casual. You're young and you don't know what you want.... I understand. I'll never judge you or hate you. I just... I don't want only sex. I don't want only a moment. I want intimacy, I want a lifetime.... Moments and sex... they are good but they pass. These other things, they last and I want something to last" Cate held Y/N's hand.

"I had a fiancé once" Cate explained. "She thought she wanted to be with me forever. I thought she did too. She convinced herself anyways... and... then she realized, we both did... she realized that you shouldn't have to convince yourself that you want to spend your life with someone. You would not be convincing yourself if you wanted something. You would know" Cate explained.

"And I do know. I know I want to give this a fair shot. I know that I want something to last. I know what I want and I'm tired of convincing myself otherwise" Cate squeezed Y/N's hand. "So if you aren't sure or if you feel you need to convince yourself, do us both a favor and walk away now. No harsh feelings or anything. I would understand but please don't say you want to and then change your mind. I want you to be sure" Cate said firmly.

"I want you to think about this. I want you to think about us. Honestly. Not me. Just what you want. YOU. Can you do that for me?" Cate smiled. "Tell me when you've thought it through. Not now" Cate grabbed her shoulder.

Y/N was about to open her mouth to say something when Cate put her finger on it. "Shhh. Tell me later" Cate smirked. "Call me, later or come over... but later. Okay?" Cate kissed her cheek. "Okay" was all Y/N got out. "Think about the answer" Cate said again. "I will, I promise" Y/N smiled, still holding onto Cates hand.

"Later..." Cate started walking away. "Later" Y/N felt butterflies. She walked away to her parents car and cate to hers own, occasionally looking back at the other and waving.

As Y/N got into the car, immediately Yolanda was all over her. "That doesn't look like a friend to me, Y/N!" Yolanda said surprised, completely onto her. "If I didn't know any better... hell, maybe I don't! You two just... you don't... I..." Yolanda couldn't get the words out.

Y/N was completely silent as they pulled out of the lot. "She doesn't say anything either! What is this??" Yolanda threw her hands up. "I don't know... I just don't know!" Yolanda went on. "Dan?!? Anything??" Yolanda looked at him, naggingly. "Yolanda, if she had something to tell us, she would tell us. Leave her alone! She is an adult and she makes her own decisions" He defended Y/N and this made her happy. It made her smile.

"You never take my side!" Yolanda started laying into him now, changing the course of things. Dan just looked in the rear view mirror and smiled at Y/N and she back at him. Thank goodness he had her back. Now she had to think... what did she want??? Did she have something to tell her parents???
