The next morning, Sam woke up around 11:00 am with Bucky asleep next to him. He sat up slowly and held his head as he looked around. It was quiet.
For the first time in awhile, Sam felt as if he could hear himself think for once. He sighed
Softly and smiled to himself as he pulled himself up.When he was on break he wore his glasses more often since they were more comfortable that the contacts he now wore since after the accident. He grabbed a crutch he had but the bed instead of guys leg braces and walked out of the room, and down the stairs carefully.
He relaxed as he realized it was raining gently. He smiled a bit, but then he saw a car pull up. He smiled as he saw his sister, nephews, mother and father.
He walked outside. "Guys!" He smiled as they hugged him. He hugged them all tightly. He teared up a bit since he hadn't seen them since before the accident.
They weren't able to come visit, only his mom was able to. They all embraced him and told him it's okay, and they're right here with him. He relaxed a bit and nodded.
He invited them all in and made his way to the kitchen to make breakfast. Sarah helped him out. Sarah and him were silent, mainly because he knew she was staring slightly.
He paused as he put a pan on the stove. He turned towards her slightly and smiled softly. "You curious?"
Sarah looked a bit scared to ask. "I... I am. But I don't want to ask if it's going to bother you." She said as she peeled potato's.
Sam shook his head. "Ask away."
She cleared her throat. "Was it on purpose?" She asked. Sam paused as he turned the stove on. How could she tell?
"I know you well enough... that you wouldn't have spun out into a wall." She said as she started to chop the potatoes. Sam chuckled slightly as he felt himself tearing up slightly.
"Yeah. She wouldn't have made it if I didn't." He said as he continued putting things into the pan. Sarah knew her brother.
She knew he was still in agony about not being able to race, but... she knew he was satisfied with the decision he made.
"Sammy, go relax." She said as she held his shoulders.
"I got it, Sara-"
"Sam." She said firmly. He looked at her. She simply smiled and kissed his head. "Go relax. You've done enough. You know Bucky wouldn't want you making breakfast for everyone when you could and should be resting." She said. Sam nodded slightly.
"I know... I just don't want you to feel overworked." Sam said quietly.
"Oh baby brother... it's a pleasure to be able to help you. Now, go outside on the porch, sit down, I'll bring you some tea, and just listen to the rain." She said reassuring him to enjoy the summer.
He nodded a bit and hobbled slightly out to the porch and sat down. He grabbed a blanket that was on the swing bench and covered himself with it.
He gripped the blanket tightly as he swung back and forth a bit. The accident replayed in his head over and over again. Oh it killed him to have to be stuck with these memories. He started to fall deeper into that memory when someone sat next to him. He felt a gentle kiss placed against his temple.
He was drawn out of that everlasting hell he gets stuck in occasionally. He was able to turn and meet the face of the person who loves him the most on this earth. Sam smiled softly and just laid his head on his shoulder and closed his eyes.
"Got stuck again?" Bucky asked as he held him close and looked out over their land. It was foggy and cool out. Sam nodded. "Yeah. But I'm good now."
Bucky nodded and smiled softly. "Good."
The rest of the group woke up, and they were all dressed in drastically different outfits from
The day before.Clara was in a Shirt, tank top and boots.
Anthony and Kylo were wearing loose t-shirts, jeans and boots as well.
Mina was in jeans, a long sleeve, and boots as well.
And Natasha was in her button up, jeans, and boots as well. Bucky wasn't sure where all these clothes that varied in size came from, but he simply ignored it and helped Sarah get food on the table.
Sam still was sitting outside which worried Bucky, but Sam had told him to go have breakfast.
Natasha sipped her coffee as she saw Sam sitting on the swing set outside, watching the rain fall. She grabbed Sam's plate and hers.
She stepped out onto the porch and stood there as Sam turned his head to look. He saw her standing there. "Here". She said as she handed him his breakfast.
"Oh, thank you." He said as he sat up and held the plate. She sat on the floor in front of him, criss crossed and ate her food. The two ate in silence. Not a word had to be said for them to understand their company.
After everyone finished eating, everyone decided to go for a walk in the rain. Natahsa grabbed her jacket, her hat and was ready to go. Sam stayed back with his mom as the kids ventured off with Bucky.
Bucky kissed Sam, and ran off with the kids.
Bucky roamed about as Natasha chased Kylo around the grass. Clara was picking flowers with Mina and trying to make little crowns as they walked.
As Bucky walked with them, his phone rang. He looked at it and saw Sam's name. He raised a brow and answered it.
"Everything okay?" He asked calmly. He stopped walking as Sam talked to him. The kids all looked at him worried.
"Okay..." be looked at the kids.
"We're heading back now."
