The group headed back, wondering why Bucky was upset. They hot closer to the house and saw a truck parked out front with someone talking to Sam. Sam was not happy either.

Bucky motioned for the kids to stay here. He got between the person and Sam. He pushed them back. The kids looked even more confused.

"Don't push me Bucky!" A woman yelled at him.

"Rebecca, if you don't leave, I'm calling the cops. You, mom, and dad are not allowed onto this property and you know that!" He yelled. She glared at him.

"I'm only here to talk! Just listen to me!" She said.

"I stopped listening to you ago, Rebecca. After you decided to go be an ass to my family, I decided I was never going to talk or listen to you!"

"Moms not doing good!" She yelled at him. He paused and looked at her. "She's not expected to live much longer. The cancer is so much more aggressive now... she just wants to see you before she goes." Rebecca said as she teared up slightly.

Bucky sighed and rubbed his neck. "What hospital is she at..."

"The one in the town you lived in when you were recovering from the crash." Bucky nodded and just looked at her. "Is that it?"

"Yes."

"Now leave."

"I don't have anywhere to stay." She said. Bucky sighed and held his head. He glanced at Sam who gave him a look saying this is your decision.

He looked at his sister and then saw a man get out of the car. He clenched his fists and then sighed as he relaxed them. He was so angry but he was getting better at hiding it.

He sighed and looked at his sister. "You can stay. There's a room upstairs all the way down the hall, on the left. If he bothers me, he's sleeping out in the rain..." He walked inside, and headed outback to the fire pit.

Sarah noticed and then glanced at Sam who was already getting up.

All eyes were on the man who stepped out of the car. Natasha's eyes widened. "Grandpa..."

Bucky was out back sitting by a fire he had started. He fixed his hat as he sat down. On a log that was upright.

He sat there quietly listening to the fire cracking in front of him. He looking at his hands as he teared up a bit thinking about his mother. He thought about how if things were better, he would've been there from the beginning.

She never even talked to him anymore. After she told him she was leaving, it tore him apart to not have his own mother around. But it was what it was... and now she wants to see him when she's on her deathbed.

How cruel. He thought.

He looked at the fire as he heard someone walking behind him. He recognized that walk. He didn't turn around. "You need to be inside. It's cold... and raining." He said.

Sam chuckled and sighed. "Always worried about everyone else." He said as he sat down next to him as he put a blanket around him. Bucky glanced at him as he sat down next to him, and scooted under the blanket with him.

Sam put his head on his shoulder and looked at the fire. "We can't catch a break huh..." Sam said. Bucky chuckled slightly as he looked down.

"No... no we can't." He said as Sam looked at him. "James..."

Bucky looked at him slightly. "Yes?"

"I got you." Sam said. Bucky smiled softly and kissed him gently. Sam kissed him back before Bucky pulled away slightly.

"I know..." Bucky just felt sam hold his hand. Bucky teared up a bit before he turned his gaze to the fire again. His hat his his face a bit so sam couldn't see him. Yes, he has been married to him for 19 something years, but he didn't want him to see him cry.

Sam knew this and didn't push. He just looked at the fire. "Worried about your mom?"

"Yeah... convenient she wants to see me when she's going to die... and now my dad is in my house, and my sisters here..." he said as he wiped his tears.

Sam looked at him slightly. "Why did you let them stay? I'm just curious."

Bucky chuckled as he felt defeated. "I still want my family around... even though they hurt me. I want to gather all the crumbs I can to at least have one good memory." He said as he held his head.

Sam squeezed his hand. "I get it. I support your decision, but I will step in if he gets to be too much." He said.

Bucky nodded slightly as around his eyes were slightly red from crying. Sam gently turned his face towards him and kissed his cheek. Bucky just closed his eyes as Sam put his forehead against his.

"It's gonna be okay."

"I know."

The two went back inside and saw Bucky's dad sitting on the couch reading. He looked up when the two came in.

Bucky met his fathers gaze as he took his hat off. "Why are you here..." Bucky said. The juniors were sitting at the dining table playing cards. Natasha was listening to their conversation.

"I figured I'd tag along with Rebecca." He said as he closed his book. Bucky just took his jacket off and went to hang it up. Sam folded the blanket and placed it on the couch. "How are you Sam?" Buckys father asked him.

Sam looked at him. "I'm fine." He said as he looked at Natasha and gave her a look saying take them all upstairs.

She nodded and motioned the table to head upstairs.

Bucky came back into view. Natasha caught a glimpse of the expression on her fathers face. It was one of fear and anger. She wondered why he wasn't too happy to see his dad.

Why wouldn't they let her talk to this man who is supposed to be her grandfather?
