After the funeral had finished the girls decided to go the Apple Rose Grill, Taylor had a hot chocolate since she was rather cold. "Why was Jenna there?" Taylor asked the question that all the girls were wondering.
"I guess she's back." Spencer somberly answered as she stared at her own drink.
"That cop acted like we were suspect or something." Hanna mentioned referring to how Wilden was speaking to them earlier. Taylor couldn't help but agree with her sister, and with Wilden now hanging around her mom, Taylor knew that Wilden was going to be around for a while.
"Do you think we looked guilty?" Emily asked worried. Seeing the girls stress, Taylor reaches over and grabs Emily's hand to give it a reassuring squeeze.
"Why would we? We haven't done anything wrong." Aria informed the group. Techniquely, that was the half truth. None of them knew anything to do with Alison but they were guilty of the Jenna thing.
"Expect lie about the Jenna thing." Taylor says, speaking her thoughts as she wondered why she listened to Ali that night. Her life would be so much easier without that hanging over her head for the rest of her life. The guilt will never go away. Even though she doesn't like Jenna, it doesn't mean that she deserved what they did to her.
"We promised we'd never bring up the Jenna thing again, remember?" Spencer asks Taylor pointedly as she looked around to make sure that no one was listening to their conversation. Ever since Alison's body was found everyone always stared at the girls, Taylor had a feeling that they were always going to be remembered as the dead girls best friends. What a great way to be remembered.
"Ali knew all off our secrets, but we never knew any of hers." Aria mentions thinking back to how many secrets the girl knew about them but how they hardly knew any of hers, if any at all.
"I knew some." Spencer suddenly decides to inform the group, catching everyone's attentions as they all stare at the Hastings expectantly, waiting for her to continue.
"Go on." Aria tells Spencer still in shock.
"Talk." Hanna and Taylor say at the same time when they realised that Spencer wasn't going to say anything and was going to stay quiet.
"I can't."
"Spence! No, you are not going to drop that bomb on us and then just clam up." Taylor tells the girl, desperately wanting to find out what secret Spencer knew about.
"She'd so kill me if I told you."
"She's dead." Hanna deadpans.
"Fine." Spencer finally relents. "Ali was seeing someone that summer."
Taylor looked at the girls to see their reactions and she noticed how they all looked somewhat disappointed as they were hoping that the secret was going to be bigger than some hidden romance.
"Well why didn't she want us to know?" Aria asks Spencer hoping that she had the answers.
"He was an older boy. And he had a girlfriend." Spencer explains.
Wanting to know who Alison was seeing Taylor asks the next question. "Who was it?"
Spencer shrugged. "She never told me his name."
"That's only half a secret." Hanna says, disappointment clear on her face that Spencer knew practically nothing about Alison's secret relationship.
"That's more than you ever got out of her." Spencer defends herself. Thinking about it for a moment Taylor comes to the conclusion that she was right. No one else has ever gotten anything out of Alison. That girl was the definition of a closed book.
