CHAPTER 19 - A Person of Interest

After being taken into the police station all the girls were questioned about the trophy and the video that was sent to them by A, obviously without mentioning anything about A. When they all had been interviewed they separated from their parents to talk privately. Taylor was beginning to get extremely stressed, A had purposefully set them up and now the police are getting suspicious of them. This wasn't looking good.

"Whoever said the truth will set you free never met A." Aria commented and Taylor nodded in agreement. When Spencer revealed that she wasn't completely honest when being interviewed it added to Taylor's nerves. 

"I should have been honest, but my mom was right next to me and with the whole Wren thing, I couldn't bring myself to say that I also hooked up with Ian." Taylor let out a sigh of relief when that was the only thing that Spencer had lied about. It had nothing to do with what was happening and there was no reason to tell the police. She thought it was going to be something major which could impact them all, thankful that it wasn't.

Hanna lets out a sigh, "You know, sometimes telling the truth does more harm than good." Taylor thought those words sounded familiar. The others thought so too as they asked Hanna who said that. "Alison." Of course Alison would be able to come up with an excuse for lying, Taylor thought.

Before anything else good be said a police officer came over and instantly greeted Emily, seeming to know her. When Taylor got a better look at him, she recognised him to be Garratt, she was surprised that he ended up becoming a cop. "Look, I'm sorry that they're putting you through this." He didn't get to speak to them much longer as the leading detective calls him over. Turning back to the girls he says his goodbyes, "Probably wants a refill on his coffee and another jelly doughnut."

As he walks off Taylor notices her sister watching him leave. "He looks good in a uniform." Hanna comments, causing Taylor to roll her eyes. 

Thankfully, they didn't have to stay much longer as they were all finished with their interviews so they got to go home. Hanna went straight to bed and so did their mother. Taylor stayed downstairs, saying that she wanted to make a drink before going to bed. But what she was actually doing was sneaking down to the basement where she found Caleb pacing back and forth. 

He had watched as the police took Taylor and the girls down to the station. He heard what was happening about how they found a trophy with blood on it and thought that Ian had killed Alison. 

Hearing someone come down the stairs Caleb immediately turned to look at who it was. His eyes softened and he let out a breathe of relief when he realised it was Taylor. Not waiting another second, Caleb walked over to Taylor and pulled her into his arms. Taylor melted, taking in his warmth and the feeling of safety that he provided. 

The pair stayed in one another's arms for what felt like years but was really only a couple of minutes. Pulling away, Caleb pressed a small kiss to Taylor's forehead causing the girl to look up at him with so much admiration. "Can I stay down here with you tonight?" She whispered, afraid that she would be rejected. Just being in his arms made her not want to sleep by herself. They shared a kiss the previous night, and Taylor could only hope that it meant as much to him as it did to her.

"Yeah. Of course you can." He told her softly. Taylor quickly excused herself to go up to her room and change into some pajamas rather that stay in her jeans for the night. When she made her way back down to the basement, she noticed that Caleb was already in the sofa-bed waiting for her. 

Climbing into the bed, Taylor laid down facing Caleb seeing that he was already looking at her. Blushing slightly, Taylor turned around and tried to fall asleep. She could feel Caleb's eyes still on her but he didn't move any closer, not wanting to push any boundaries, so he turned on his back and fell asleep.
