[Your POV]

I settled Leonardo into the spare bedroom Casey's abuelita's apartment. The bed was soft and smelled of old people. But not the gross kind, more nostalgic and comforting. "Let me get you something to eat. You're probably starving." I said, turning away. But Leo reached for my hand and squeezed. My cheeks went red.

"Can you...uh...stay? Maybe?" He asked, blushing. I was silent, processing what he said. He looked away and gently let go of my hand. "Uhhh nevermind. Sorry, that was-"

"I'll get you something, and then I'll come right back." I said. His eyes widened and he beamed with happiness. "I promise." I left the room and gently closed the door. When I turned around and into the hallway, I stopped short. Zion, Veronica, and Blake were all making goofy faces, teasing me.

"'I promise~'" Zion mocked.

"'I'll come right back~'" Veronica mimicked. Blake turned around and rubbed his arms around his back, making dramatic kissing noises.

"STAHP!" I whisper yelled, playfully smacking them. We all giggled and walked back into the kitchen. I got a plate from the cupboard and used the tongs to load it up with tamales.

"How is your boyfriend doing, sweetie?" Abuelita asked.

"Oh uhhhh..." I was stunned for a second. My face went bright red. "He's uhhhh"

"Is he not boyfriend? April said so." She said. I whipped my head around to see April staring through the windows with Casey. I glared at the back of her redhead.

"It's complicated." Is all I said. "But he's doing better. I'm sure he'll be even better after your wonderful tamales. Thank you so much for letting a bunch of teenagers stay here."

"Oh you are fine, honey." She said, waving her hand. "I do not get company anyway, apart from my nieto - Casey. I enjoy people." She patted my shoulder gently and turned to help my friends plate their food.

I filled a glass of water and sped down the hallway and into the spare room. I set the food and water on the nightstand and cracked open the window, pulling only one curtain. I propped up the pillows and helped Leo sit up on his back. I sat down next to him, putting the tamales between the two of us. We both picked one up, unwrapped them, and smiled at each other before biting into it. My mouth exploded with flavor. The chicken inside was still warm, cooked just right. The masa tasted delightful, and the vegetables mixed inside just added to an amazing meal.

"Wow, Casey's abuelita's a great cook." Leo commented, gazing out the window as he scarfed down the tamale.

"Don't eat so fast!" I said worriedly. He chuckled and looked back at me with his sapphire eyes. My face felt hot and I started looking around nervously. The kiss suddenly came to mind again. Maybe...I could kiss him again...? No, that would be ridiculous...I think.

"(Y/N)?" Leo asked. I hummed and faced him. "Are you okay?"

"Oh uh- yeah, I'm fine. Just got...a lot on my mind." Technically that wasn't a lie. The kiss was seemingly minuscule compared to everything else happening. Splinter and the box are missing, we're being hunted down by Shredder's goons, I still hadn't even fully recovered from my injury, and we still have no idea how to get all the kidnapped children back home. Everything just seems so impossible right now. I feel like my brain is gonna overheat from all this overthinking! AND-!

"(Y/N)..." Leo whispered, holding my hand. Everything stopped. Every thought in my mind came to a screeching halt. It was calm. I looked over to see Leo hold my hand to his face, nuzzling his cheek against the back of my hand. "It's gonna be okay..."

"....But....but what if..." Tears welled up in my eyes. He pulled me close and hugged me.

"I'm gonna make sure everything will be okay." He said, gently rubbing my back. We mutually pulled away and I gazed into his eyes.

"But-"

"No."

"...'no'?"

"Don't overthink it, okay? I'll make sure we'll be safe...together. We're gonna come out of this as if it never happened. I will protect you, no matter the costs."

"But...why? Why do I matter so much to you, Leonardo Hamato?"

"Because...." His mouth hung open, like he wanted to say the words but his body wouldn't let him. His pupils dilated and I could tell he was thinking exactly what he wanted to say. "Because I love you, (Y/N) (L/N). I love you. You're the best thing that has ever happened to me. And I don't ever wanna live in a world without you. A world where we can't breathe the same air, or can't share each other's presence, is a world that isn't worth living in!"

"...Leo..." I whispered, tears falling from my eyes. But these were not sad tears. They were full of joy. "I-I feel the same way..."

"You do!?" He looked genuinely surprised. "I mean...I thought you maybe liked me- but I also thought I was being a bit delusional-"

"I've been in love with you ever since I first discovered you. You have been my inspiration my whole life. You are the reason I can find a reason to get out of bed. I've never felt so alive before I met you. You complete me, Leo..." I declared my feelings. Leo's eyes sparkled and his jaw dropped with adoration.

He placed his three-fingered hand on my face and gently rubbed my cheek. I gazed into his soft eyes, enamored by him. I glanced at his lips. He glanced at mine. We slowly started leaning in. I closed my eyes. He closed his. He held my head and pulled me in. Our lips touched.

Although this was not our first kiss, it definitely felt like it. His soft lips were warm and comforting. His touch made the butterflies in my stomach go wild. They weren't even butterflies, it was more like a full on volcanic eruption. I didn't wanna pull away. I was blissfully delirious. I wanted this kiss to last forever. I wish it did...

We pulled away slowly, processing what we had just done. His face was so hot, I could feel the heat radiating off of him. Or maybe that was my face? We were both blushing like crazy. He stared at me. "Can...can we do that again?" He asked shyly. I nodded very enthusiastically. I pulled him in by the plastron - which startled him a little bit - kissing him on the lips again. It was just as magical as the first time.

His arms pulled me in closer. I never wanted to pull away. I just wanted to stay like this in his arms. But alas, we do need oxygen to live. We pulled away and I giggled a little bit. "Uhh...hi..." I said bashfully.

"Hello..." He said, just as bright red and shy as me. I had the biggest, stupidest smile on my face. "So uhhh...do you, like...um...." It was hard for us both to find the right words. "Are we like.....do you wanna...um...be my...maybe be my- partner, or something like that? Or do you prefer a different term?"

"Partner is fine." I said with a smile. "Do you like the term boyfriend?" He smiled wide and nodded. "Or would you prefer something like pookiebear?" I joked.

"Absolutely not..." We suddenly heard Raph's voice through the door. We both fell silent and slowly looked towards the door. It was only then that we realized everyone was outside the door. I could see their shadows from underneath.

"Raph! You blew our cover!" Blake cried. "Everyone run!"

"We were never here!" Mikey yelled through the door.

"SHUT UP, MIKEY!" Everyone shouted.

Leo and I burst into laughter as the sound of footsteps left the hallway. I laughed so hard that I ran out of breath and leaned against Leo's plastron for support. He rested his chin on my head and hugged me. As we caught our breath, we yawned in sync. "Maybe we should get some rest." I said. Leo agreed.

We laid together in bed, spooning. I was the little spoon and Leo was the big one. He wrapped his arms around my waist and held me close. As my eyes grew droopy and my consciousness started to fade, I heard Leo whisper into my ear.

"I'll never let anyone take you away from me..." He whispered before we both passed out, together.
