Chapter Seven

[Your POV]

"There was a girl with dark skin and black hair going around, looking for someone of your description." April explained. "She showed me a picture of you. She seemed to be in a hurry and looked really panicked."

"Where did she go?" I asked.

"I don't know." April said with a shrug. "She just ran down the street. I'm sorry I don't have any more information."

"It's okay." I said. "At least I know there's a possibility she might be safe." April and Casey raised their eyebrows and looked back at the turtles, who gave me a nod. I explained my whole situation to April and Casey, only pausing when they asked certain questions. At the end, April stood there silently, hand on her chin. Meanwhile, Casey was wide eyed.

"Man, that sounds wack, dude." Casey said.

"Casey, you literally couldn't sound any less empathetic." Donnie complained.

"What, it's not like this is some kinda everyday occurrence for me!" Casey said. The two glared daggers at each other and Leo walked over to me.

"I promised (Y/N) we'd save the students who were taken by Shredder." Leo said. I smiled and looked up at Leo.

"Hey, Leo, I don't think I said this before, but I promise to help protect your world from whatever Shredder has planned." I said. Leo smiled and patted me on the back.

"This isn't a wedding, stop sharing vows." Raph said, pushing between Leo and I. I blushed and I could see Leo do the same. Raph turned to me, pressing his thick finger against my forehead. "I still don't trust you."

"Thanks for the info." I said, taking a deep breath, letting it all out in his face.

"ACK!" He gagged, backing away from me. Mikey burst out laughing. "Brush your teeth!"

"I do!" I said. Raph rolled his eyes and smacked my shoulder, almost knocking me into the couch.

"That was great, dude." Mikey whispered, fist bumping me. I looked around, seeing how everyone else was holding in their laughter. I giggled. After our laughter died down, we were all awkwardly silent.

"So...what do we do now?" April asked.

"We send in a roach." Donnie said.

"...Roach?" Raph croaked.

"I thought you were done using roaches are what happened last time!" Raph said. The seven of us were in Donnie's lab, watching him pick up a miniature camera.

"What happened last time was an accident." Donnie said. "I wasn't careful enough when preparing a roach. But now, as you can see, I have improved!" He picked up a medium sized spraycan and walked over to a tank. The tank had originally had a cloth covering it, but as Donnie removed it, Raph found himself gripping his sais.

The tank had four cockroaches of varying sizes in it. Coming from a clean boarding school, we almost never saw cockroaches in real life. I still remember seeing one for the first time. It was at the back of the field at school. Zion had invited me to practice baseball with him. The cockroach had been missing several legs and Zion had volunteered to put it out of its misery many times.

"This spray will work as a shield from the mutagen." Donnie said, picking up a medium sized cockroach. "This coat lasts twenty-four hours. That should be enough to get some more information on what Shredder and the Kraang are doing. Now, who wants to hold this cockroach for me while I spray it?"

Everyone was silent, looking away from Donnie. I raised an eyebrow and raised my hand. "I'll do it." I said. Donnie walked over to me and everyone watched as he placed the cockroach in my hand.

"Now, we're not going to send it out right now, as we don't really have a plan at the moment. But I just figured I'd show you all what the coat does." Donnie said. The cockroach's little legs tickled my hand and I couldn't help but smile.

"You know, I don't really see why people hate cockroaches so much. They aren't even harmful." I said.

"Oh shut up, you entitled brat." Raph hissed. But his comment only made me smile. "I've seen saws appear out of naked versions of these monstrosities." Mikey shivered at the memory. That's right.

"Cockroach Terminator." I said. "That's the eighteenth episode of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Season One. I saw the whole thing..." Donnie shook the can and sprayed a silver coating on top of the cockroach. Some of the spray got on my hand, but I didn't mind. He flipped the cockroach onto its back and sprayed its underside. "None of this is harmful to the cockroach, right?"

"Nope!" The genius said. "The cockroach isn't feeling any sorta pain." After he finished spraying it, he picked it up. He pulled out a small compartment of mutagen and April cringed. Wait, was her father still a bat? I suppose it just depends on how far into the season we are. Baxter Stockman wasn't mutated until later into the season, in the episode The Lonely Mutation Of Baxter Stockman. But even then, that was about ten episodes before the final one. Mr O'Neil was mutated into a bat creature in the first episode of the season, titled The Mutation Situation. So her dad must be human, since he was un-mutated in the same episode Stockman was mutated. She and the other turtles had awful memories when it came to mutagen and the Kraang in general.

Donnie dropped the turtle in the mutagen and waited a few moments. Using a pair of tongs, he pulled out a completely normal looking cockroach. I grinned and set the cockroach down. "That's awesome, Donnie!" April said.

"Y-Yeah, I suppose it is..." He said awkwardly, his face going red. I smiled. Seems like he still had a crush on her, which was great. "So, after we come up with a plan, we can use this cockroach to sneak into Shredder's lair. Thanks to the security footage given to me by (Y/N) and their friend Blake, I was able to almost perfectly map out Shredder's lair. This has definitely given us an advantage." Donnie held up the flashdrive. "But I still haven't been able to figure out the code."

"We can figure that out later." Leo said. "Let's work with what we have for now. (Y/N)?"

"Yeah?" I answered.

"Will you join me in the dojo? There's something I'd like to talk to you about."
