This is the rewrite version of my previous story, "The Yokai".
Raizo Tachibana is the son of Yasaka Tachibana, and older brother of Kunou Tachibana. He's a Kitsune born with 10 tails as opposed to the usual 9, and is therefore considered an anomaly...

As you know, this is a rewrite. The main story will stay relatively the same, however there will be some major changes, such as a certain black cat being introduced a lot sooner than usual.

It's currently nighttime and I'm sitting on the roof of my home, when I'm supposed to be in bed.
My mom told me to go to bed, but the stars and moon look so beautiful tonight, that there's no way I could miss this.

However, my star and moon gazing was interrupted when I caught whiff of a scent I had never smelled before. Being the curious kid I am, I decided to go investigate.
My investigation brought me to the bamboo forest just outside of Kyoto. I was searching for this scent for about 10 minutes before I got to the source.
What I found was a girl my age with black hair, but her most notable features were here two black cat ears and tail. She was a Nekomata. I had never seen them before because they all lived in one big village. What was she doing here? Upon further inspection, I noticed that she was injured.
Raizo: Excuse me, miss? Are you okay?
She turned around instantly when she heard me.
???: Stay back!!!
She then forms a blue fireball and throws it at me. I was able to dodge it, now I needed to let her know that I was no threat.
Raizo: Whoa whoa, don't shoot! I mean you no harm!
She was about to throw another one, but her injuries started to ache so she stopped her attack. I cautiously approached her.
Raizo: That looks pretty bad. You need some help?
She then looked at me with anger in her eyes.
???: Stay away from me you- *sniff* *sniff*... Wait... You're not one of them.
Raizo: One of who?
???: The bastards that attacked us!
Raizo: Who attacked you? What's your name? I'm Raizo.
???:... Kuroka.
Raizo: Ok, Kuroka. Tell me what happened.
The Nekomata now known as Kuroka sat in silence for a minute before speaking again.
Kuroka: My family was attacked by fallen angels. My mother sacrificed herself to let me and my sister escape, but they caught up with us anyway. I tried to fight them off, but there were too many of them. My sister and I got separated, and not long after that I was injured. I've been running for 3 days now.
