VISIONER
"What- what happened?" Visioner stared in horror at the limp, bloodied form of Jasmin. She was scarcely breathing, and her eyes were closed.
"HiveWing." Winter, who had helped the self-defense teacher, growled. "Yellow and black, four wings, and she was attacking Jasmin."
"Oh moons," Ermine, the MudWing healer, muttered. "Look at those wounds. I bet they were poisonous."
Mink, who had been frozen with shock, managed to say, "What happened to the dragon who attacked her? Did you see her before?"
"No." He seemed lost in thought.
"A HiveWing," Mink murmured. "What would a HiveWing be doing here in Jade Mountain?"
"Don't..." Visioner jumped at the raspy voice. Jasmin's eyes were still closed, but she was stiffer, her jaws clenched, and she was shivering uncontrollably. "I'm not...going to..."
"We need to treat her quickly." Pronghorn lifted her onto a bed. "Everyone who isn't a healer should leave the healing center."
"But you told me to stay here!" Mink protested.
"Except you," Ermine growled.
"But-"
"Now." Pronghorn, who was usually a kind and gentle dragon, pushed Visioner away roughly. "No arguing."
Visioner left the cave silently. He wrapped his wings around himself to think.
He hoped Jasmin was okay. She seemed- no, she was- a strong dragon.
He realized guiltily that he had other things on his mind, pushing away his worries for his teacher.
Mink...how could she? His very best friend. Accusing Brightness of murder.
Wasn't Brightness her friend, too? Visioner remembered when he and Brightness were back in their cave with Destroyer and Starspeckle. Huddled together, forcing through their pain and hunger.
"We'll get something to eat soon," He'd whispered to his sister. "Starspeckle should be back by now, bringing some food."
But their mother hadn't come back. Because Destroyer had killed her with his own claws.
Visioner buried his face into his talons. This wasn't the most important thing to think about right now. Who had attacked Jasmin? From what he had learned from Webs, HiveWings lived in Pantala.
So what would a HiveWing be doing in Jade Mountain Academy, fighting to kill a new teacher?
And...why?
