A/N: SO LIKE IM REALLY SORRY FOR NOT UPDATING I WAS ON A TRIP AND WHEN I GOT BACK THREE DAYS AGO I FORGOT TO UPDATE CUZ I WAS TIRED AND BUSY
MINK
I guess it's time now.
Mink sighed, looking up at the cave ceiling. She felt restless, her heart breaking every time she thought about the dragon she had thought she had loved.
No, the dragon who she still loved.
But he didn't love her back. Maybe he never had.
"Mink?" Sunny was peering into the healing center. "Queen Snowfall's here. You did pack your belongings, right?"
"Just a few minutes." Mink had completely forgotten to pack the things she'd brought and found. Sunny nodded.
"You can always come back," The SandWing-NightWing reminded her. "Visit us sometimes."
"I will," Mink promised, but guilt made her stomach churn. She'd never come back. The school was just a painful reminder of the agony she felt. Sunny cast her a last, rueful smile, and left.
Mink sighed, and made her way to her cave.
The cave she shared with Visioner and Scorpion.
She silently packed the shining opal Snowfall had given her, the letters she had received, and her scrolls. Mink gazed at her dried mud sculptures. They looked ugly and misshapen, but she packed them anyways. Somehow, they were a comfort to her.
From now on I'll be sculpting with real snow and ice, not this blobby replacement.
Her eyes fell on two paintings that sat between hers and Visioner's nest.
One, which she had painted, was of a midnight-black sky, stars scattered everywhere. And two silhouettes, one dark purple and one pure black, barely visible in the darkness. Silver scales dotted their wings.
The second was the one she had received from Visioner. The lines were wobbly and unsure, but it was obvious that it had been made with care. He had painted a beautiful snow-white IceWing with feathery gray patterns and bright, shining blue eyes. Her mouth was twisted up in a beaming smile.
This dragon was nothing like Mink. A broken, soulless, lifeless, shattered dragon.
Let go, Someone whispered in her ear. Leave the pain. Leave everything behind.
A single tear trickled down her snout. Mink took the painting in her trembling claws and closed her eyes.
She smashed it to the ground, shattering it into a million ripped, splintering parts.
