VISIONER

Visioner felt both relieved and irritated when he saw Brightness in the prey-center.

"Where were you?" He asked. "You weren't in class today."

Brightness shrugged, ripping the meat off a chicken's wing. She offered the other wing to Visioner, but he shook his head, shuddering at the thought of eating meat.

Visioner looked away as Brightness crunched the chicken's head. He wasn't sure he liked killing any living creature; it reminded him of the pain he had felt in Destroyer's cave.

But he's dead now, He remembered. He can't hurt me anymore.

Physically, at least.

Visioner settled for a banana instead, trying not to think about his past. He racked his brain for anything happy.

Oh, right.

"Brightness," Visioner said. "Jasmin woke up a few days ago. I think she'll get released from the hospital next week."

Brightness nodded, then returned back to finishing up her chicken. She stood up, dusting  the feathers off her talons.

"Where are you going?" Visioner asked.

"Homework," Brightness called back, leaving the cave.

After a moment, Visioner returned to his banana, wondering why she wasn't showing more emotion of their teacher's release as he stared at the blood-splattered feathers flutter to the ground.

JASMIN

"Did you sleep?" Ermine asked Jasmin.

"Yeah," She lied.

Truthfully, she hadn't slept ever since she had woken up from her coma three- or was it four?- days ago. Closing her eyes for a moment brought back the image of Wasp, her stinger gleaming in the eerie light of the lanterns that lit up the tunnels of Jade Mountain Academy.

Jasmin felt exhausted, and her wounds weren't healing. Her side ached with pain, and she winced as she reached over to take the apple the healers had offered her for breakfast.

"Those injuries should be healing by now." Pronghorn frowned. "Maybe it's the poison?"

"Maybe," Jasmin agreed, gingerly taking a bite out of the apple. She set it down after her jaws screamed at her to stop. The burning of the venom was still there, feeling as if it was eating up her veins.

"Hm." Pronghorn eyed her for a moment, then sighed. "Get some sleep," He said before turning away.

Jasmin watched him walking away, then let out a deep breath and prepared herself for another sleepless night.
