VISIONER

Visioner blinked. He blinked again. The fog in his mind was slowly dispersing, and he could remember small bits of his story.

He'd escaped the cave he shared with his parents and arrived at a school called Jade Mountain Academy.

He had a friend called Tamarin.

Tamarin was gone.

He had a friend called Anemone.

Anemone was dead.

He had a friend called Mink.

Mink was gone.

He had a twin sister called Brightness.

Brightness was still here...but barely.

Everything rushed back, and Visioner clenched his head, trying to ward off the massive headache.

"What-?" He looked around, and saw Jasmin looking at him with a worried expression. He shook himself.

"Are you okay?" Jasmin asked. "You were acting really weird."

"I- I'm fine," Visioner stammered. "My brain was a little...off, that's all." He felt so confused. It had never been so bad before. He'd occasionally forget what he was talking about, or what he was doing, or what had happened a few moments or hours or days or weeks or months or years ago.

He'd never forgotten his entire new life before, besides when he was half-killed by Destroyer.

It doesn't matter, Visioner decided, pushing the thoughts away. It won't happen again.

A small part of his mind whispered, It will.

JASMIN

Jasmin's brain whirled as Visioner whispered a hurried goodbye.

What was that?

Visioner looked like he...lost something important. His eyes had gone blank and vacant and lifeless and terrified at the same time.

I wonder what happened to him.

Her thoughts drifted, and for the first time in days, she slipped into a forbidden sleep.
