I'm sitting next to Derek as a representative starts listing our injuries from the crash.

Woman: Derek Shepherd– multiple hand fractures with a median nerve injury. Savannah Collins– 2nd degree burns to the arm and chest. Arizona Robbins– open femur fracture with resultant above-knee amputation. Lexie Grey– deceased. Mark Sloan– deceased.

I let out a deep breath.

Derek: how is– how is the investigation going?

Savannah: have they found out what caused the crash?

Man: the investigation could take years. That's why we want to help you put this tragedy behind you.

Woman: I think you mean, your clients would like to put it behind them.

Man: so I am authorized at this time to propose a onetime settlement. Bayview Aeronautics takes your loss seriously. Now the settlement agreement must be unanimous, and it releases Bayview Aeronautics from any and all other claims, known or unknown, but... most important, it will allow you to put this painful time behind you and move on with your lives.

Derek passes the paper over to me and I read the paper with the amount of money for the settlement. No amount of money could make me forget about the hell we suffered through in those woods. No amount of money could bring Lexie or Mark back. We don't deserve this.

After the meeting was over, I drive home. When I walk in, I see Natalie passed out on the couch. She woke up when I dropped my bags on the ground.

Natalie: hey, mama.

Savannah: go back to sleep, sweetheart.

Natalie: how was the meeting?

Savannah: hated every minute of it. I just wanna get into bed. I'll see you in the morning. I love you, baby.

I kiss my daughter on the forehead then I walk into my room to see Jackson fast asleep in bed. I change into my pjs then crawl into bed.

Jackson: princess?

Savannah: hey. Didn't mean to wake you. Go back to sleep, sweetie.

Jackson: how was the meeting?

Savannah: I hated every minute of it.

I started ranting about the settlement.

Jackson: wow. That's a lot of money.

Savannah: I know. But... I can't settle, baby. This won't solve anything. This money won't bring Lexie back, or Mark back. It won't bring Arizona's leg back. No amount of money can make us forget about what we went through in those woods.

Jackson: so... what are you gonna do?

Savannah: I have no frickin' idea. I just want to sleep for right now.

Jackson wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me into his chest. He kisses my forehead as I snuggle into his chest.

Savannah: I love you.

Jackson: I love you too, babygirl.

I was on my way to the lounge, and I accidentally bump into someone.

Savannah: oh, wow, I'm so sorry.

Jeremy: all good.

I look up at the guy I bumped into, and my eyes grow wide when I recognize the face.

Savannah: oh my god. Jeremy?!

Jeremy: well, well, well, if it isn't the oh-so beautiful Savannah Collins.
