Jackson and I are by the nurses desk going over patient charts together.

Savannah: mom is gonna be here today, and she'll want to spend some time with us and Cathy.

Jackson: I know. We can be together when we go to Webber's party.

Savannah: no, we need to be together where mom isn't focusing on Webber. She's gonna be here for the week, so we need to make time to clean the kitchen. You know, this is your fault. You can't seem to take 10 seconds out of your day to wash the dishes.

Jackson: look, I don't like a filthy kitchen either. Dirty cereal bowls in the sink aren't gonna exactly tip the scales.

Savannah: it wouldn't hurt, honey. I mean, there are dirty bottles and plates and bowls everywhere. And it doesn't help that Cathy eats just as much as Nat did when she was a baby. And– oh! Mom.

Jackson: huh?

Savannah: mom's here. She's coming over.

I smile as Jackson and I walk over to mom.

Savannah: hi, mom!

Mom: Savannah, my darling girl! Look at you. You are glowing, my sweetheart. But you're getting so skinny. So are you Jackson. That gorgeous baby girl is running you ragid, my sweeties. Okay, listen, I need you to follow me. I have something I need to discuss with you.

As we follow mom to a conference room, I get a page from Owen. Then Derek two seconds later.

Savannah: crap. Owen and Derek are paging me. I'm sorry, mom, but can we wait to talk? You can see Cathy in day care while you wait or have coffee with Jacks. I'll try not to be long.

I kiss Jackson then run off to meet Owen in a conference room. When I get there, I see Owen with Callie plus her lawyer, and Derek.

Savannah: hey, I was paged?

Owen: you need to talk to them.

Owen steps aside.

Savannah: what's going on?

Owen: Callie and Derek are arguing about their sensors.

Callie: he's bailing on me.

Derek: Callie, this is not something I'm doing to you. I have a signed contract with them.

Callie: yeah, that you had no right to sign. You signed away something that's ours.

Derek: come on. We spent half the day together yesterday. Why didn't you say something then?

Callie: we were on a playdate. We were with the kids.

Derek: oh, we have Sofia's dressy doll. I think Zola thought it was hers.

Callie: ha.

Derek: what?

Callie: oh, like father, like daughter, I guess.

Savannah: Callie!

Owen: I think we're– we're– we're drifting here.

Callie: yes, yes, you're right. I'm sorry. That was unprofessional. What I should have said was... the sensors are materials that you co-developed with me in service of research I started and invited you to participate in. If you attempt to impair my access to these materials, I will have you prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Lawyer: well said.

Derek: this is insane. You don't have a case.

Savannah: okay, listen, before anyone resorts to litigation, let Owen take this before the other board members.
