Seventy Eight

Jackson and I are laying together with our daughter in our own little world, and I see Owen walk into the room.

Owen: hey. We need to set up a board meeting. Meet in Grey's room.

Savannah: okay.

Owen: Avery, you good?

Jackson: yeah.

Jackson and I look at each other.

Jackson: I've never been better.

I smile as Jackson kisses my forehead.

Owen: oh, and... congratulations.

Savannah: thanks, Owen.

Owen runs out of the room.

Jackson: Natalie, can you wheel your mom to Meredith's room for the meeting?

Natalie: mhmm.

Jackson helps me into a wheelchair then I hold my baby while Natalie wheels me into Mer's room. When I get there, all the other board members, plus Bailey, file in.

Derek: there she is!

Savannah: say hello to your aunties and uncles.

Meredith: how're you feeling?

Savannah: good.

Natalie: she took it like a champ.

Savannah: Mer, how're you feeling?

Meredith: better.

I smile at Mer and Derek's baby boy in Bailey's arms while Cristina was taking pictures.

Owen: okay, we should get started. Um, Bailey, we have some board business we need to disc—

Bailey: I'm not going anywhere. Me and this baby have Bailey business to discuss. Don't we? Yes, Mr. Derek Bailey Shepherd.

I chuckle at Bailey as I hold my baby.

Savannah: Mer, what does Zola think of him?

Meredith: oh, she wants to take him to day care for show and tell.

Arizona: Natalie, how do you like your little sister?

Natalie: I'm obsessed with her.

Derek: where's Richard?

Owen: I paged all the board members.

Derek: oh, Avery should be here too.

Savannah: well, my dumb fiancé was busy being a freakin' hero last night. He and Jeremy dislocated their shoulders saving a couple kids from the bus crash. Nearly sent me into cardiac arrest.

Meredith: what bus crash?

Everyone looks at Meredith.

Cristina: she had a baby. She doesn't know things.

Meredith: so tell me.

Savannah: a church was evacuating some people, and their bus overturned.

Owen: the good news is, everyone survived, and there are no major injuries.

Arizona: and the bad news?

Savannah: everything else. The blood bank is flooded, and the ER is a mess and a half.

Derek: so we need to close the ER?

Owen: we're dangerously low on meds. Personnel can't make it in due to the flooding.

Cristina: so we need to close the ER.

Arizona: can we do that?

Owen: you are the board. I am telling you that ER cannot open today.
