Sixty Five

I'm in the bridal suite waiting for Bailey to show up, and we can't get a hold of her. As I step outside to call Bailey, I get a call from the ER.

Me- this is Dr. Savannah Collins.
Nurse- Dr. Collins, I know you're at Dr. Bailey's wedding right now, but Dr. Bailey was pulled into an emergency surgery.
Me- of course. I'll tell him now.

I end the call and run out to find Ben. I find him getting off the phone.

Ben: Miranda was pulled into an emergency surgery.

Savannah: I know, a nurse just called me from the ER. You should warn your guests.

I walk over to Natalie and Jackson as Ben walks to the front of the chapel.

Ben: could I have everyone's attention, please? Um, my beautiful wife-to-be has been pulled into an emergency surgery, so things are gonna be delayed for a while. Those of you who are doctors will understand. And those who aren't, uh... well, they're setting up the buffet. The bar's open in the back. Drink, eat, and just as soon as we're able, we'll have a little wedding.

I link my arm with Jackson's.

Savannah: Dr. Avery. I believe the buffet is calling my name. And don't forget, I'm eating for two.

Jackson chuckles at me.

Jackson: to the buffet.

I'm sitting with Natalie, Jackson, Alex, April and Jeremy as Ross tells a story.

Ross: according to the article, the doctors discovered that her hair follicles had actually been growing nails instead of hair. Like, fingernails.

Jackson: cool story, bro.

While everyone was talking, I was playing footsie with Jackson.

Ross: can I get anyone a coffee?

We all decline his offer as he gets up.

April: it's like having dinner with Ripley's Believe It Or Not.

Jeremy: so you're starting to regret this whole "let's bring dates" idea?

April: no. No. I love Ripley's Believe It Or Not.

Alex: I love easy wedding sex, which I'm gonna miss out on now 'cause you jerks can't keep your hands off each other. You made me bring sand to the beach, and it's sand I can't sleep with.

Savannah: Alex, since when can you not sleep with interns?

Alex: I'm a homeowner now. I've grown up. Besides, they get all hung up and sad when you don't want to be their boyfriend. It's not worth the hassle.

April: you are one classy guy, Karev.

Savannah: oh, yeah. The classiest.

Alex: I make an effort.

Jackson: you know, Karev, you could try being in a real committed relationship. Relationships aren't all that bad.

Alex: says the guy who's been in love with the same girl since he was 13.

Jackson: and I got the girl, so case proven.

I chuckle at Jackson as he kisses my cheek. Then, all of our pagers go off.

Savannah: woah, major trauma at the hospital. Come on.

We grab our things and walk towards the interns.

Wilson: did you just get paged?

Savannah: yeah, all of us. Major trauma at the ranch. You kids coming?
